Guests can use many of ClickUp's personal productivity tools.

What you'll need
- Guests can be invited to any Workspace on any ClickUp plan.
- Guests will have limited access to features and items in a Workspace.
Navigate using the Sidebar
The Sidebar consists of settings, features, and the Hierarchy.
The guest Hierarchy consists of only the Folders, Lists, and tasks you've been invited to access. Guests don't have access to Spaces.
See the items that were shared with you
The guest Sidebar has a Shared with me section.
The order is Folders, Lists, then tasks with the most recent items on top. You're not able to reorder the Sidebar.
Guests can't see archived items.
To open the items shared with you:
- In your Sidebar, click Shared with me.
- Expand a Folder to see a List. Click a List to see tasks.
- It is possible to have a List without a Folder.
- Select the item.
Use Sidebar features
As a guest, you can use the following Sidebar features:

Search your Hierarchy: Search for tasks, Lists, and Folders.
You can also use the Command Center to search for items, including Docs and Whiteboards. - Spaces settings: You have access to the Show all Spaces and Show archived settings.
- Home: Use the features available in Home to manage your work.
- Inbox: Access your notifications that match your notification settings.
- Goals: See the Goals you've been invited to view or edit.
- Favorites: Use and pin Favorites.
- Dashboards Hub: See the Dashboards that have been shared with you.
- Docs Hub: See the Docs that have been shared with you.
- Whiteboards Hub: See the Whiteboards that have been shared with you.
Use Workspace and account settings
Workspace and account settings can be affected by custom permissions.
As a guest, you can access the following Workspace and account settings:
From the Workspace settings:
- App Center: Guests can view the App Center, but only Workspace owners, admins, and members can connect apps.
- Template Center: Guests only have access to templates for Docs, tasks, views, checklists, and Whiteboards. Guests with edit or full permissions can access the Template Center from items that have been shared with them.
From your personal settings:
- Themes: The theme color will apply to every Workspace you've created or joined. Workspace color themes are used throughout ClickUp. You can also switch from Light Mode to Dark Mode.
- Settings: Change your email address, reset your password, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and set your language, date, timezone, and other user experience preferences for your user account.
- Notification settings: Choose what you want to be notified about and where to receive each type of notification.
- Keyboard Shortcuts: Hotkeys and keyboard shortcuts are available throughout your Workspace.
- Download apps: Download ClickUp desktop app, mobile, and access ClickUp features from outside apps.
- Referrals: This program is currently closed to new applicants. Try our affiliate program!
- Help: Access the ClickUp Help Center.
- Trash: Guests can only see and restore items they've deleted. Guests can't permanently delete items or empty the Trash.

In addition to the default permissions, guests on paid plans can be given additional permissions.

Guest feature availability and limits
In order to access any feature or ClickApp, an item must be shared with you.
