ClickUp 4.0 introduces a converged Workspace that connects your tasks, Docs, Chat, and AI tools in one place. New and updated features include:
- Chat sidebar
- The Planner
- Personal Lists
- Updated Hubs
- A new task view experience
ClickUp 4.0 Workspace settings
For Workspaces that were previously on 3.0, admins and owners can try out ClickUp 4.0 for themselves or their entire Workspace.
New Workspaces automatically have 4.0!
Workspace navigation
ClickUp 4.0 introduces a new navigation that converges your tasks, Chat, AI, and other collaboration and productivity tools.
Global Navigation
Your workflow converges in Global Navigation. Use Global Navigation to open your communication, collaboration, and organizational features from anywhere in ClickUp.
Global Navigation is the vertical bar on the left side of your Workspace. It remains open from anywhere in ClickUp.
You can pin or unpin Global Navigation features from the More menu. Pinnable features include Chat, AI Hub, Planner, and the App Center.
Home Sidebar
Access your notifications, tasks, conversations, and favorite items from the converged, customizable Home Sidebar.
Default Home Sidebar items include Inbox, Chat Activity, Drafts and Sent, All Channels, and My Tasks.
Customize your Home Sidebar
Choose which items stay visible in your Home Sidebar by pinning and unpinning Home Sidebar items from the Customize menu.
Create and reorganize your Home Sidebar sections
From the Sections tab of the Customize menu, you can:

- Reorganize Home Sidebar sections.
Filter your Home Sidebar
To focus on unread Chat messages or DMs, filter your Home Sidebar.
Spaces Sidebar
Open the Spaces Sidebar to focus on your Workspace Hierarchy locations and items. You can also create items, like tasks, messages, and Docs, in the Spaces Sidebar.
Depending on your user role and permissions, you may see a limited version of the Spaces Sidebar. For example, guests, limited members, and limited members view only can only see locations and items shared with them.
Chat Sidebar
To use the Chat Sidebar, an admin or owner must activate the Chat ClickApp in your Workspace.
Access your most recent direct messages and Channel conversations. The Chat Sidebar can be accessed from your Global Navigation.
AI Sidebar
Access full-page ClickUp AI from the AI sidebar.
Updated Hubs experience
In ClickUp 4.0, Hubs have been upgraded with a redesigned experience, featuring sidebars to help you quickly find and create items.
Add items to your favorites
If you don't see a section, ensure your Home Sidebar filters are cleared.
To add items to your favorites:
- Right-click the item or click its ellipsis ... menu.
- Hover over Favorite.
- Select Favorites.
Pin items to top or bottom
Pin items to the top or bottom of your Workspace to quickly access them at any time.
Pin to top
To pin an item to the top:
- Click the item's ellipsis ... menu.
- If the item lives in your Home Sidebar, you can right-click it.
- Hover over Favorite and select Top.
- The item will be pinned to the top of your Workspace until removed.
Pin to bottom
To pin a task or Doc to the bottom:
- In the upper-right corner of the task or Doc, click the ellipsis ... menu.
- Hover over Favorite and select Bottom.
- The item will be pinned to the bottom of your Workspace until removed.
My Tasks
My Tasks (including the My Tasks page, formerly Home) is a personalized section to start your day, prioritize your work, and plan what's most important.
The My tasks tab in the Home Sidebar expands to show three separate pages:
- Assigned to me: Displays a task list card of tasks assigned to you.
- Today & Overdue: Includes the My work and Agenda cards.
- Personal List: A page that displays your Personal List, similar to a List in the Hierarchy. You can add multiple views to your Personal List.
Planner
Access the Planner from the toolbar or your Global Navigation!
Inbox
Open your Inbox to access notifications and reminders, reply to comments, and respond to messages and comments you saved for later.
The Inbox is accessible from your Home Sidebar. View Chat messages and comments you saved for later and reminders created in ClickUp 4.0 in the Later tab.
Chat
Communicate with your team using Channels or direct messages, create or connect tasks from Chat messages, use ClickUp AI to summarize threads, and much more.
In ClickUp 4.0, you can:
- Schedule Chat messages to be sent at a later time.
- Message a Channel using your unique email address for that Channel.
- Save Chat messages for later! Saved messages are sent to your Inbox's Later tab.
- Add cards to your Chat Channels to surface bookmarks, notes, and more.
- Open the Assigned Comments page to view and respond to messages and comments from across your Workspace.
Reminders
Create reminders for smaller action items. You can create them for yourself or delegate them.
Reminders created in ClickUp 4.0 are sent to your Inbox.
You can continue to create and view legacy reminders from the Reminders or My Work card in My Tasks. Legacy reminders will eventually be deprecated.
Reminders have a specific due date. When a reminder’s due date arrives, it will be displayed in your Inbox's Primary tab.
New task view experience
In ClickUp 4.0, tasks have been upgraded with a redesigned experience, featuring collapsible sections and a redesigned right sidebar for comments, activity, integrations, and relationships.
We're actively working to bring the new task view experience to all Workspaces using ClickUp 4.0.
Send comments and emails on a schedule
Schedule task comments or replies to be sent at a later time.
You can also send emails from tasks at a specific date and time.
Updated Docs experience
In ClickUp 4.0, Docs have been upgraded with a redesigned experience that features comments in the right sidebar.
Mobile app
If your Workspace is on ClickUp 4.0, you will see the 4.0 layout in your mobile app as well!
Some of the largest changes to the mobile app include:
- Enhanced layout that integrates all Home Sidebar functionality into the mobile app.
- My Work is now called My Tasks. My Tasks was overhauled and now includes pages you can tap to see tasks due today, your Priorities, comments, and more.
- The More menu lets you access Clips, Docs, ClickUp AI, and more from one location.
