Add the Workspace items and locations you use the most to your favorites for quick access.

Your favorites are unique to you. Other people in your Workspace cannot see your favorites.

In ClickUp 4.0, your favorites are a section in your Home Sidebar. In ClickUp 3.0, your favorites are a menu in the Sidebar and can be pinned to the top of your Workspace.

Favorites are available on every ClickUp Plan to all user roles. 

What can I add to favorites?

The items you can favorite depend on your ClickUp version.

Items you can favorite in ClickUp 4.0

You can favorite the following items in ClickUp 4.0:

• Spaces, Folders, and Lists
• Tasks
• Channels
• Direct messages
• Docs
• Dashboards
• Whiteboards
• Forms
• Views, including views of All Tasks
• Sprints, including the current sprint

You can also add items to your custom sections.

Depending on the item, you can:

• Pin to top.
• Pin to bottom.

Items you can favorite in ClickUp 3.0

You can favorite the following items in ClickUp 3.0:

• Dashboards
• Views, including views at the Everything level
• Spaces
• Folders
• Lists and tasks
• Docs
• Sprints, including the current Sprint

Add an item to your favorites

Adding an item to your favorites depends on your ClickUp version.

Add an item to favorites in ClickUp 4.0

When you favorite an item in ClickUp 4.0, it is added to the Favorites section in your Home Sidebar.

To favorite an item from most places in ClickUp 4.0, click the star icon. You can also click the arrow next to the star icon to see additional options, including:

  • Add the item to a custom section.
  • Depending on the item:
    • Pin to top.
    • Pin to bottom.

To favorite an item from your Home Sidebar or the Spaces Sidebar:

1. Right-click the item.
2. Hover over Favorite and select Favorites.

Add an item to favorites in ClickUp 3.0

To favorite an item in ClickUp 3.0:

1. Right-click the item or click its ellipsis ... menu.
2. Click Add to Favorites, or click Add to and select Favorites.
3. The item will be added to the Favorites section in your Sidebar.

To favorite a view in ClickUp 3.0:

1. In the Views Bar, right-click the view.
2. Select Add to favorites.

To view your favorites in ClickUp 4.0:

1. Open your Home Sidebar and scroll to the Favorites section.
2. Click on a favorite to open it.
   • If the section is not expanded, click to expand it.
3. To access a favorited item's settings menu:
   • Hover over a favorite and click the ellipsis ... icon.
   • Or, right click on an item.
4. To create items:
   • Hover over a favorite and click the plus icon.

To view your favorites in ClickUp 3.0:

1. Expand the Sidebar.
2. Click Favorites to expand the section.
3. Click on a favorite to open it.
4. Hover over a favorite and click the ellipsis ... icon to:
   • Rename the favorite.
   • Remove the item from your favorites.

Pin the favorites menu in ClickUp 3.0

In ClickUp 3.0, you can pin the favorites menu to the toolbar.

To pin your favorites:

1. In the Sidebar, hover over Favorites.
2. Click the pin icon.

In ClickUp 4.0, pinning items to the top of your Workspace is separate from favorites.

In ClickUp 3.0, you can unpin favorites to remove them from the toolbar.

To unpin your favorites, click the pin icon.

Rename favorite views in ClickUp 4.0

In ClickUp 4.0, you can apply aliases to views that matter the most to you. 

This allows you to update a view's name in your favorites only. The name of the actual view won't be changed anywhere else in your Workspace.

To rename a favorited view in ClickUp 4.0:

1. Open a view in any Space, Folder, or List.
2. At the top, right-click the view name.
3. Select Favorite.
4. Choose to favorite the view, add it to a custom section, or pin it to the top of your Workspace.
5. Enter the alias you'd like to use.
   
6. Click Add.

Rename favorites in ClickUp 3.0

In ClickUp 3.0, you can rename favorites. 

When you rename a favorited item, it only updates the name in your favorites. The name of the item is not changed anywhere else in your Workspace.

To rename a favorited item in ClickUp 3.0:

1. In the left Sidebar, right-click the item in the favorites menu.
2. Select Rename.
3. Type a new name.
4. Press Return on Mac or Enter on PC.

Remove an item from your favorites

Removing items from your favorites differs between ClickUp versions.

Remove a favorite in ClickUp 4.0

To remove most items from your favorites in ClickUp 4.0, click the star icon. You can also click the arrow next to the star icon to move the item from your favorites to another section.

To remove a favorite from your Home Sidebar or the Spaces Sidebar:

1. Right-click the item.
2. Hover over Favorite and select Favorites.

Remove a favorite in ClickUp 3.0

To remove an item or view from your favorites in ClickUp 3.0:

1. Right-click the item or click its ellipsis... menu.
2. Click Remove from Favorites or click the star icon.
