What you'll need

  • You can send Channel messages via email on every ClickUp plan.
  • Everyone, including guests, can send Channel messages via email.

Send a message via email

To send a Channel message via email:

  1. Open the Channel's context menu:
    • Right-click the Channel, or hover over it and click the ellipsis ... icon:
    • At the top of the Channel, click the ellipsis ... icon next to the Channel name.
    • On the right side of the Channel, click Settings or the Settings icon in the floating sidebar.
  2. Select Email to Channel.

  3. Click Copy to copy your unique email address for the Channel.

    To skip this menu in the future and immediately copy the address, check Skip this modal and copy email every time.

  4. Create a new email and paste the Channel address into the recipient field. Fill out the email with any message details you'd like added. Text in the subject line will be displayed larger than text in the body of your message.

    Save Channel addresses to your contacts to send messages from anywhere.

  5. Once you send the email, the message is sent to the Channel. The message will have a banner indicating the email address it was sent from.

Sending messages from another email address

When you send a Channel email from the same email address as your ClickUp account, you will be displayed as the message author in the Chat Channel.

If you are sending a Channel message from a different email than the one you use for ClickUp, the message author will be the email address you used.

Reset your email address

Reset your personal email address used to send Channel messages.

  1. Open the Channel's context menu:
    • Right-click the Channel or hover over it and click the ellipsis ... icon:
      • In ClickUp 4.0, Channels are located in your Home Sidebar or the Chat Sidebar.
      • In ClickUp 3.0, Channels are located in Chat's sidebar.
    • At the top of the Channel, click the ellipsis ... icon next to the Channel name.
    • On the right side of the Channel, click Settings or the Settings icon in the floating sidebar.
  2. Select Email to Channel.

    If you opted to skip the menu, click Settings on the pop-up in the lower-left corner.

  3. Click the reset icon.

Troubleshooting

If you receive an error message when attempting to send a Channel message via email, ensure the email address has not been reset.
