Set your status or mute notifications

Are you at a doctor's appointment, lunch, out of office, or on vacation? Or do you need to focus for a few hours? Let your team know by setting your status or muting your notifications. 

What you'll need

  • User statuses are available for every ClickUp plan. 
  • If the Who's online ClickApp is off, you'll only see your status.
  • Guests cannot set a user status. 
  • Guests cannot see the user statuses of the members in their Workspace. 

Set your status

Select one of the ready-to-use statuses, or create your own. 

After setting your status, you can choose to mute notifications.

To set your status:

  1. In the upper-right corner, click your personal avatar. 
  2. In the personal settings menu, below your name, click Set status
    • Or, if your status was previously set, click the pencil icon to edit it.
    • And, in the Edit status modal, click the icon to clear your previous status.
  3. In the Edit status modal, select an option:
    • What's on your mind: Type something into the text box, like Gym. To add an emoji, click the emoji icon.
    • Recents: Your last three custom statuses will display in this section. At the bottom of the Recents section, click Show more to view all of your custom statuses.
    • Your org's statuses: Or in the section under your org's name, select from common statuses like In a meeting or Focusing

  4. After setting a status, you'll see the following options:
    • Remove status after: Choose the amount of time or a custom date and time for your status to remain active.
    • Out of office: Your OOO status will prominently display next to your name or status.
    • Mute notifications: Pause email, mobile, desktop, and browser notifications until you clear your status. 

      If you've muted notifications, Channels and direct messages with unread messages are bolded. They will not display the number of unread messages next to them until you've unmuted your notifications.

  5. Click Save

Clear your status

To clear your status:

  1. In the upper-right corner, click your personal avatar. 
  2. Click the pencil icon.
  3. In the Edit status modal, click the icon.
  4. Click Save

See a user's status

People in your Workspace will see your status next to your name and avatar in various locations, such as:

  • Task and Inbox comments
  • @mentions
  • Profiles
  • Pulse
  • Manage people

Profiles, and task and Inbox comments

Statuses display in the following way in Profiles, and task and Inbox comments:

  • To the right of the person's avatar and name. 
  • When someone hovers over an emoji, the text and remove status time pop up.

@mentions

Statuses display in the following way in @mentions or when typing @:

  • To the right of the person's avatar and name. 
  • When someone hovers over an @mention, the person's status displays. 
  • When someone types @ to select a person, the person's status displays.

Analytics and Manage people 

Analytics is a ClickApp that must be enabled by a Workspace owner or admin.

Analytics was formerly named Pulse.

Statuses display in the following way in Analytics and the Manage people modal:

  • When someone clicks an avatar, the person's status displays. If their notifications are paused, there's a z on their avatar's online indicator. The indicator is a green circle in the lower-right corner of the avatar.
