Create items, close and open the Home Sidebar and Spaces Sidebars, and search their contents.
Using ClickUp 3.0? Most of the Home Sidebar and Space Sidebar features in ClickUp 4.0 are available in the Sidebar.

Create items
To see Channels and Direct messages, the Chat ClickApp must be activated in your Workspace.
To create items from your Home Sidebar or Spaces Sidebar:
- In the upper-right corner of either Sidebar, click the Create button.
- Select one of these items and follow the prompts to create it:

| Task | Create a new task. |
| Message |
Send a direct message. Direct messages can only be created from the Home Sidebar, not the Spaces Sidebar. |
| List | Create a new List. |
| Channel |
Create a new Chat Channel. Channels can only be created from the Home Sidebar, not the Spaces Sidebar. |
| Space | Create a new Space. |
| Doc | Create a new Doc. |
| Form | Create a new Form. |
| Dashboard | Create a new Dashboard. |
| Whiteboard | Create a new Whiteboard. |
| Section |
Create a new Home Sidebar section. Sections can only be created from the Home Sidebar, not the Spaces Sidebar. |
| Templates | Open the Template Center to create a new item using a template. |
Close, open, or resize the Home or Spaces Sidebar
Adjust the visibility of the Sidebars.
If you have keyboard shortcuts enabled, close and open the Sidebars by pressing Cmd + \ on a Mac or Ctrl + \ on PC.
Close the Home or Spaces Sidebar
Show more of your screen by closing the Sidebars:
- Hover over the Sidebar.
- In the upper-right corner of the Sidebar, click the arrows icon.
Open the Home or Spaces Sidebar
To open the Sidebars, click the arrows icon at the top of your Global Navigation.
Adjust the width of the Home or Spaces Sidebar
To adjust the width, click and drag the divider on the right of the Sidebar.
To reset the default width, double-click your mouse or trackpad.
Search the Home or Spaces Sidebar
To search the Sidebar:
- Hover over the Sidebar and click the search icon at the top.
- Type a keyword.
- Results are filtered as you type.
