Intro to Whiteboards

Whiteboards are built for collaboration. Create Whiteboards to track your sprint planning, brainstorm marketing collateral concepts, or help distributed teams work together.

Whiteboards are the fastest way to collaborate with your team and bridge the gap between brainstorming and getting work done!

What you'll need

  • Whiteboards are available on every plan.

  • The number of Whiteboards that can be created depends on your plan:

    • Free Forever: 3 Whiteboards.

    • Unlimited: 10 Whiteboards.

    • Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise: Unlimited Whiteboards.

  • Guests can use Whiteboards.

  • If using Google Chrome, you must enable hardware acceleration.

Create a Whiteboard

In ClickUp 2.0 and 3.0, you can create a Whiteboard in the Sidebar, as a view, and from the Quick Action menu.

In ClickUp 3.0, in addition to the above locations you can create a Whiteboard from the toolbar's Quick Create button and from Whiteboards Hub.

Create a Whiteboard from a template

From the ClickUp Template Center, create a new template or apply an existing template. You can also choose a template from the Create Whiteboard modal that opens when you create a Whiteboard.

Move around a Whiteboard

You can move items, move your whole Whiteboard, zoom in or out, and see who else is collaborating with you.

Search for a Whiteboard

In ClickUp 2.0 and 3.0, you can search for Whiteboards using the Command Center.

In ClickUp 3.0 you can also use Whiteboards Hub.

Use Whiteboards Hub

In ClickUp 3.0, use Whiteboards Hub to organize, search, and create Whiteboards from one centralized location.

Add items to Whiteboards

Items are the building blocks of a Whiteboard. You can add items, like shapes and connectors, using the Whiteboard toolbar. You can also add images, apps, and websites

Add tasks and Docs to a Whiteboard

Add tasks and Docs to your Whiteboard and edit them without leaving the canvas. Tasks and Docs have the same functionality as the other Whiteboard items, you can duplicate, connect, and draw on them!

Directly connect your ideas to your work by converting shapes, sticky notes, or text into a task. 

Customize Whiteboard items

Customize your Whiteboard! Change colors, sizes, and connector types. Copy, delete, or arrange an item in relation to the other items on your Whiteboard.

Connect and align Whiteboard items

Whiteboard connectors are lines and arrows used to create relationships between items. You can customize connectors by changing the color, line weight, and adding text.

Share and set permissions on a Whiteboard

Do you work with clients outside of your Workspace? You can share a Whiteboard with anyone. They don't even have to have a ClickUp account!

You can also share and set permissions for Whiteboards with the people and Teams in your Workspace.

Use /Slash Commands to format Whiteboard items

Format your Whiteboard text with elements that stand out, like banners, headings, highlights, and code blocks. Insert buttons and dividers to add style.
