Inherit fields from filters
When a task filter is applied to a view, any newly created tasks will inherit the some fields to match the filter.
For example, a List view is filtered to show tasks with the status In Progress. When you create a new task from the view, the newly created task will automatically have the status set to In Progress.
The following fields are automatically populated if they are filtered in the view:
- Status
- Priority
- Start date
- Due date
- Dropdown Custom Field
- Checkbox Custom Fields
- Tags
Inherit fields from a view
When you create a task from a view that has certain fields set, those fields are applied to new tasks automatically.
For example, a List view is grouped by Status. Clicking Add Task below the Blocked status group will set the status of the newly created task to Blocked.
Fields are inherited when tasks are created in the following ways:
- Clicking New in the toolbar and selecting Task from the Create Items modal.
- Clicking Add task below any group of tasks in a view.
- Clicking the location header or the task breadcrumb ellipsis ... menu and selecting Task from the +Create new tab.
The following fields are automatically populated if they are set in the view:
- Status
- Priority
- Tags
- Start Date and Due Date
- Label Custom Fields
- Number Custom Fields
- Rating Custom Fields
- Text and Long Text Custom Fields
