The fastest ways to create new tasks from anywhere in in ClickUp are using the + Task
button, or by pressing 't'
to use the keyboard shortcut.
You can create new tasks quickly and easily in List view, Board view, and Calendar view! In these views, you can add tasks with just a few simple actions.
Quick Create with + Task

Click the
+ Task
button in the lower right corner of your screen -
Fill out the task details, or apply a task template

Click
Create Task

You can also create a new task from a comment in an existing task. The new task is embedded in the comment section.
List view
Start typing in the field below any status list. Then, press ENTER (or RETURN ) on your keyboard to save the task.
Voila! A new task is born, and you're ready to create the next one.
Pro Tip! If you'd like to add multiple tasks at once, simply copy and paste multiple lines of text into the "Create new task" area of List view. ClickUp will automatically detect the line breaks and create your tasks in bulk!

Board view
Select the + symbol at the top-right section of any board column to add a task. Keep in mind that in Board view, you can group your task columns by status, priority, assignees, tags, or due date. When quick-creating, your tasks will set to a specific status, priority, etc., depending on the grouping you apply.

Just remember to lock the task in place when you're done by saving with the ENTER or RETURN key on your keyboard, or by clicking SAVE.

Calendar view
Choose to see a daily, 4-day, weekly, or monthly, Calendar view.

In “Month” View, hover over a date box and click the + symbol to add a task.
In all other views, click anywhere to quickly create a task!
Remember to lock the task in place when you're done by saving with the ENTER or RETURN key on your keyboard, or by clicking SAVE.
You can create as many tasks as you'd like using this method, and rearrange them quickly with our Bulk Action Toolbar.
