Create and edit tasks and subtasks in the ClickUp mobile app.
Mobile Task view 3.0 has introduced a new task UI! Instructions for Task view 2.0 and 3.0 are separated into different subsections throughout the article.
What you'll need
- Tasks and subtasks are available on every ClickUp plan.
- Everyone, including guests with edit or full permissions, can create and use tasks and subtasks on the mobile app.
- Subtasks cannot be created in Offline Mode.

Create a task
There are several ways to create tasks on mobile. Instructions apply to both mobile 2.0 and 3.0.
Quick-create a task
To quick-create a task from almost anywhere on mobile:
- In the lower-right corner, tap the plus icon.
- Name the task.
- Tap the List name directly under the task name to select a new location for it.
- Add optional task details:
- Choose a status.
- Add a Start date, Due date, and Time.
- Set the task to recur.
- Add a Priority.
- Add a tag.
- Add a Description.
- Add Subtasks.
- Attach a text or image file.
- Tap Create in the lower-right corner.
- A Task Created banner will appear at the top of the app.
- Tap Open on this banner to go directly to the task.
Mobile users on iOS can also create tasks using Siri.

Create a task from Board view
To create a task from Board view:
- From Board view, swipe to a column.
- The column you create a task in inherits the properties of the column. For example, if the column is an in review status, the newly created task will inherit this status.
- Tap the plus icon next to the column name.
- Add a task name.
- Add optional task details.
- Tap Create in the lower-right.
Create a task from Calendar view
To create a task from Calendar view:
- From Calendar view, tap and hold on a day and time.
- This will be the newly created task's due date.
- Add a task name.
- Add optional task details.
- Task Create in the lower-right.
Create a subtask
Create a subtask on the mobile app.
Task view 2.0
To create a subtask:
- Open a task.
- At the bottom, tap the subtask icon in the To Do container.
- Tap + Create Subtask.
- Name the subtask and add any details.
- Tap Create.
Task view 3.0
To create a subtask:
- Open a task. By default, you'll be in the Details tab.
- Under the Subtasks section, tap + Add subtask.
- Name the nested subtask and add any details.
- Tap Create.
Create a nested subtask
If the Nested Subtasks ClickApp is enabled in your Workspace, you can create nested subtasks on the mobile app.
Nested subtasks can only be created in mobile Task view 2.0.
Task view 2.0
To create a nested subtask:
- Open a task.
- At the bottom, tap the subtask icon in the To Do container.
- Tap the plus icon to the right of an existing subtask.
- Alternatively, tap and hold a subtask to open the Subtask options modal. From the modal, tap Create subtask.
- Name the nested subtask and add any details.
- Tap Create.
