Display Custom Fields in tasks and views

See Custom Field data when working on tasks or looking at views.

What you'll need

  • 60 Custom Field uses are available on the Free Forever Plan.
  • Unlimited uses are available on paid plans.
  • Individual Custom Fields can be hidden from all guests.
  • Guests can display Custom Fields in views, but not save changes to views they haven't created.

Display Custom Fields in tasks

Open a task to see all available Custom Fields below its description.

By default, only pinned, required, and Custom Fields with data in them are displayed in tasks. To see all Custom Fields, click Show more below the table.

Custom Fields are displayed in alphabetical order unless a Workspace owner or admin has selected to sort Custom Fields manually.

Display Custom Fields in views

Custom Fields can be displayed in List, Table, Board, and Calendar views.

You can calculate numeric Custom Field columns in List and Table views.

List and Table view

To display Custom Fields in List or Table view:

  1. Open the view.
  2. In the upper-right corner above the task table, click the plus icon.
  3. At the bottom of the Create field modal, click Show/Hide.
  4. Under the Hidden section, click the toggle next to each Custom Field to display it.

  5. Changes are automatically saved.

Board view

To display Custom Fields in Board view:

  1. Open the Board view.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the view, click Customize.
  3. From the Customize Board modal, select Fields.
  4. Click Custom Fields.
  5. Click each Custom Field to display it. Visible Custom Fields have a checkmark next to them.

Calendar view

To display Custom Fields in Calendar view:

  1. Open the Calendar view.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the view, click Customize.
  3. From the Customize Calendar modal, select Fields.
  4. Click Custom Fields.
  5. Click each Custom Field to display it. Visible Custom Fields have a checkmark next to them.
