Message a Channel in ClickUp 4.0

There are several ways to message a Channel in ClickUp 4.0.

From your Home Sidebar 

To message a Channel from your Home Sidebar:

1. In your Global Navigation, click Home.
2. In the Channels section of your Home Sidebar, select a Channel.
   • Alternatively, click the plus icon in the upper-right corner of your Home Sidebar, select Message, and choose a Channel.
3. Type your message. To make it a Post, click the Message dropdown under your draft and select Post.
4. Press Return on Mac or Enter on PC.

From the Chat Sidebar

To message a Channel from the Chat Sidebar:

1. In your Global Navigation, click Chat.

   • If you don't see the item in your Global Navigation, click More and select it.

   • To keep the item visible in your Global Navigation, pin it.

2. In the Chat Sidebar, select a Channel.
3. Type your message.
   To make it a Post, click the Message dropdown under your draft and select Post.
4. Press Return on Mac or Enter on PC.

From the create button

In ClickUp 4.0, you can create messages from the create button in your Home or Chat Sidebar:

1. In your Global Navigation, select Home or Chat.
2. In the upper-right corner of the Sidebar, click the plus icon.
3. Select Message.
   
4. Choose where to send your message.
5. Type your message.
   To make it a Post, click the Message dropdown under your draft and select Post.
6. Press Return on Mac or Enter on PC.

Message a Channel in ClickUp 3.0

In ClickUp 3.0, you can message a Chat Channel from Chat's sidebar or Launchpad.

From Chat's sidebar

To message a Channel from Chat's sidebar:

1. Open Chat.
2. In the Channels section of Chat's sidebar, select a Channel.
   
3. Type your message. To make it a Post, click the Message dropdown under your draft and select Post.
4. Press Return on Mac or Enter on PC.

From Launchpad

To message a Channel from Launchpad:

1. Open Chat.
2. In the upper-right corner of Chat's sidebar, click the Launchpad icon.
3. Select a recent Channel or type the name of one. 
4. Type your message. To make it a Post, click the Message dropdown under your draft and select Post.
5. Press Return on Mac or Enter on PC.

Add context to messages

You can add helpful context to messages using the options below the text box:

• Use rich text editing
• Change the message type
• Open Brain Assistant
• Upload an attachment
• @mention a person, Followers, task, Doc, Whiteboard, and more.

  • You cannot @mention all Followers in thread replies. 

• Assign the message
• Add an emoji
• Record a Clip
• Record a Voice Clip
