Group tasks by single values in List view
In List view, tasks with more than one assignee, tag, label, or person can appear once in every group they match.
For example, a task assigned to Sam and Alex appears in both the Sam group and the Alex group. When this option is off, the task appears once in a combined Sam, Alex group.
To group tasks by single values:
- In the upper-left corner of List view, click the Group menu, which shows your current grouping.
- Alternatively, in the upper-right corner, click Customize view, then select Group.
- Select Assignee, Tags, a Label Custom Field, or a People Custom Field that allows multiple people.
- Turn on the toggle for the field you selected:
- One assignee per group
- One tag per group
- One label per group
- One person per group
- Click Save view.
The toggle is off by default in every view, including views you create. When it's on, each value gets its own group. When it's off, multiple values are shown as combinations of items, and the individual-value groups are not shown.
The setting is saved with the view, so each saved view can use either behavior.
Every appearance represents the same task. Changes to the task are shown in every group where it appears.
Filters also control which single-value groups are shown. For example, when you filter by Sam, a task assigned to Sam and Alex appears in Sam's group, but Alex's group is hidden. Learn more in Intro to List view and Filter and search tasks in List view.
This option is available in List view. Board view does not include it.
