Create and apply Folder templates

Use Folder templates to quickly set up new projects in your Workspace. You can browse our collection of prebuilt templates or create and use your own.

Apply a Folder template

To apply an existing Folder template:

  1. In the left Sidebar, hover over the Space where you want to add a Folder.
  2. Click the + icon.
  3. Select From Template.
  4. Search for a template from your Workspace or use a template created by the ClickUp community.

  5. Click a Folder template to see more detail.
  6. Select Use Template
  7. Edit the Folder name, location, import options, and task start/due dates.
  8. In the lower-right, click Use Template.

Create a Folder template

To create a new Folder template:

  1. Create a Folder.
  2. Add any Lists, tasks, views, or Automations you want to save as a template.
  3. In the left Sidebar, hover over the name of your Folder.
  4. Click the ellipsis ... menu.
  5. Select Templates
  6. Click Save as Template
  7. Add a template name, description, tags, sharing options, and import options.
  8. In the lower-right corner, click Save.

Update a Folder template

To update an existing Folder template:

  1. Create a new Folder using an existing template.
  2. Make any changes and updates to its Lists, tasks, views, and Automations.
  3. In the left Sidebar, hover over the Folder you just created.
  4. Click the ellipsis ... menu.
  5. Select Templates
  6. Click Update existing Template
  7. Search for and select the template you want to update.
  8. In the lower-right corner, click Next.
  9. Make any updates to your template name, description, tags, sharing options, and import options.
  10. In the lower-right corner, click Save.

Delete a Folder template

If you don't need a template anymore, you can delete it. Deleting a Folder template is permanent and can't be undone.

To delete a Folder template:

  1. In the lower-left corner, click your personal avatar.
  2. Click Template Center.
  3. Search for and select the template you want to delete.
  4. Click Delete Template
  5. To confirm, click Delete template.
