Remove or delete Custom Fields

Remove a Custom Field from specific locations or delete it from your entire Workspace.

Remove a Custom Field from specific locations

You can remove a Custom Field from specific locations without deleting it from your entire Workspace. 

Custom Fields must exist in at least one location. 

Custom Fields can be removed from a Space, Folder, or List using the Custom Field Manager or a List view.

From the Custom Field Manager

To remove a Custom Field from a specific location:

  1. In the Custom Field Manager sidebar, choose a Space, Folder, or List.
  2. Click the Custom Field to open the editor sidebar.
  3. In the sidebar, hover over the location and click the x icon.

  4. Click Save.

From List view

To remove a Custom Field from a specific location using a List view:

  1. Open a List view in the Space, Folder, or List.
  2. If the Custom Field is displayed as a column, click its column header. If not, add the field as a column and click its column header.
  3. Select Delete field. If you are deleting the field from the only location it exists, it will be sent to the Trash. The Workspace owner or an admin can restore it within 30 days of deletion.
  4. To confirm, click Delete.

Delete a Custom Field from your Workspace

Delete a Custom Field from your entire Workspace. Deleted Custom Fields are sent to the Trash, where admins and owners have 30 days to restore it.

From the Custom Field Manager

To delete a Custom Field from your Workspace using the Custom Field Manager:

  1. Open the Custom Field Manager.
  2. From the sidebar, select the highest Hierarchy location in which the Custom Field exists.
  3. Click the Custom Field you want to delete.
  4. At the bottom of the right sidebar, click the delete icon.
  5. To confirm, click Delete.

From a view

To delete a Custom Field from your Workspace from a view:

  1. Open the Fields sidebar:
    • In List or Table view, click the plus icon in the upper-right corner.
    • In most other views, click Customize or the settings icon, then select Fields.
  2. From the sidebar, search for the field.
  3. Hover over the field and click the pencil icon.

  4. In the lower-left corner of the mini editor, click the delete icon.
  5. To confirm, click Delete.

Automations with deleted Custom Fields

When deleting a Custom Field used in Automations, a warning menu will display the number of Automations that rely on it.

If you proceed with the deletion, all Automations that use the Custom Field will be deactivated.
