What you'll need
- Custom Field Manager is available on all ClickUp plans.
- Guests can't use the Custom Field Manager.
- On Business Plus and Enterprise Plans, members can access the Custom Field Manager if the Manage Custom Fields custom role permission is enabled for members.
- The options to merge and move Custom Fields are available on the Business Plus and Enterprise Plans. Some fields cannot be converted back.
- There is a 25,000 task limit when converting Custom Fields.
Conversion options

AI Custom Fields cannot be converted.
Convert a Custom Field
To convert a field from the Custom Field Manager:
- Click a field to open the editor.
- Click Field Type.

Click the dropdown menu and select a new Custom Field type.
Depending on the type of Custom Field you're converting from, not all Custom Fields are available. Once you convert a Custom Field, you may not be able to convert it back to the original Custom Field type. - Review the warning modal to understand the impact of converting the Custom Field.
- Click Convert Field.
