Edit Custom Fields

Update Custom Fields from tasks, the Custom Field Manager, and specific views. The details you can edit vary by Custom Field type.

What you'll need

  • 60 uses of Custom Fields are available on the Free Forever Plan.
  • Unlimited uses are available on all paid plans.
  • Individual Custom Fields can be hidden from all guests.
  • Guests cannot edit Custom Fields or create new options for Custom Fields.

Edit Custom Fields from a task

To edit Custom Fields from a task:

  1. Open the task.
  2. Scroll down to the Custom Fields table and hover over the field you want to edit.
    • If you don't see the field, click Show more below the table.
  3. Click the edit icon.

  4. Update the Custom Field details. Details vary by field.
  5. Changes are automatically saved.

Edit Custom Fields from the Custom Field Manager

To edit Custom Fields from the Custom Field Manager:

  1. Open the Custom Field Manager.
  2. From the sidebar, choose a Space, Folder, or List the Custom Field exists.
  3. Hover over the Custom Field and click Edit.
  4. In the Edit field sidebar, update the Custom Field details.
  5. Click Save.

Edit Custom Fields from a List or Table view

You can edit Custom Fields from a Custom Field column header or when adding existing Custom Fields to your List or Table view.

Edit Custom Fields from its column header

To edit a Custom Field from its column header:

  1. Open the List or Table view.
  2. Click the Custom Field's column header. If you don't see the Custom Field, add it as a column.

    You can rename the Custom Field from the top of the column menu. Changes will apply to the Custom Field throughout your Workspace.

  3. Click Edit field.

  4. Update the Custom Field details. Details vary by field.
  5. Changes are automatically saved.

Edit Custom Fields when adding them to your view

You can edit Custom Fields when adding them to your view if your Workspace was created before March 1, 2024.

To edit existing Custom Fields when adding them to your List or Table view:

  1. Open the List or Table view.
    • For a List view:
      • In the upper-right corner above the task table, click the plus icon.
    • For a Table view:
      • In the upper-right corner above the task table, click the plus icon.
      • In the upper-right, click Customize and select Fields.
  2. At the bottom of the modal, click Add field from Workspace
  3. Hover over the Custom Field and click the edit icon.
  4. Update the Custom Field details. Details vary by field.
  5. Changes are automatically saved.
  6. To add the Custom Field to your view, click Add in the Search fields modal.
