The location header lets you quickly make changes to any Space, Folder, or List in your Workspace.
Docs and Whiteboards do not have a location header.
Location overview is available on ClickUp 3.0.
Use the location header
By default, the location header is collapsed at the top of the page in Spaces, Folders, and Lists. Click the Expand header icon in the upper right to expand the location header.
Customize a List
When at the List level of your Workspace, use the Customize button in the upper right to make the following changes to the List:
List options
- Empty statuses: Display tasks that have do not have an active status.
- Wrap text: Automatically expand the text content of the tasks.
- Task locations: Display task locations.
- Subtask parent names: Display subtask parent names.
- Closed tasks: Show closed tasks.
- Closed subtasks: Show closed subtasks.
- Tasks in Multiple Lists: Show tasks in Multiple Lists.
- Subtasks in Multiple Lists: Show subtasks in Multiple Lists.
More settings
- Add to favorites: Add the List to your Favorites.
- Autosave view: Automatically save any view changes.
- Pin: Pin the view.
- Protect view: Prevent view settings and preferences from being changed.
- Private view: Make a view private.
- Default view for everyone: Make the view a default view for all Workspace members.
- Default to Me Mode: Enabled Me Mode.
- Reset view to defaults: Reset all view settings to default.
- Default view settings: Access the settings menu for default views.
Fields
Select the Custom Fields for your List.
Filter
Filter your List view to see only the information that you need.
Group
Choose how the tasks in the List should be grouped.
Subtasks
Choose how subtasks are displayed in the List.
Templates
Create or apply a template.
Copy link
Copy the List's link.
Export

Access the sharing and permission settings.
View location settings
Settings menu options will vary by Hierarchy level and permissions. For example, Spaces and Folders will have more options than Lists. If you have Full permissions on one List and Edit permissions on another, each List's settings options will be different.
There are two ways to open the location settings menu. From the location header or from the breadcrumbs, click the ellipsis ... next to the location name.
Available options for Spaces:
- Create new: Create a new item in the Space.
- Rename: Rename the Space.
- Color & Avatar: Change the Space's color and avatar.
- Copy link: Copy the link for the Space.
- Duplicate: Duplicate the Space.
- Add to favorites: Add the Space to your favorites.
- Leave Space: Leave the Space. Leaving Spaces will remove them from your Sidebar.
- Templates: Create a template or apply a pre-made template.
- More settings: Access additional Space settings.
- Sharing & Permissions: Access the sharing and permission settings.
- Archive: Archive the Space.
- Delete: Delete the Space.
Available options for Folders:
- Create new: Create a new item in the Folder.
- Rename: Rename the Folder.
- Copy link: Copy the link for the Folder.
- Add to favorites: Add the Folder to your favorites.
- Duplicate: Duplicate the Folder.
- Move: Move the Folder to another location.
- Templates: Create a template or apply a pre-made template.
- Folder settings: Access additional Folder settings.
- Archive: Archive the Folder.
- Delete: Delete the Folder.
- Sharing & Permissions: Access the sharing and permission settings.
Available options for Lists:
- Create new: Create a new item in the List.
- Rename: Rename the List.
- Copy link: Copy the link for the List.
- Add to favorites: Add the List to your favorites.
- Duplicate: Duplicate the List.
- Move: Move the List to another location.
- Email to List: Copy the link to email tasks to your Workspace.
- List Info: View the List info.

Add a description
Use the Add description icon to add a location description.
Set location color
Location colors can be used to apply a visible color to an entire location. To set a location color, click the Add color icon.
In the location color modal, you can:
- Set the location's color.
- Clear the current color.
- Add or edit the available colors.
Set location assignee
Use the Add assignee icon to add an assignee at any location.
Set location priority
Use the Add priority icon to set the location's priority.
Set location due date
Use the Add date icon to add important due dates to the location.
Task templates
Use the Task templates button to pin a template or access the Template Center.
Create a new task
Use the Add Task button in the upper right to create a new task in the location.
At the List level, expand the location header to use the Add task dropdown. With the dropdown you can:
- Create a new task
- Add a task from another List
- Pin a template
