Create and use Whiteboard templates

Templates help you jump-start your everyday Whiteboard activities so you can spend more time brainstorming. Template a Whiteboard that your team uses regularly. Or choose from the ready-to-use options on our Template page.

Don't forget to add related tasks to your Whiteboard so you can collaborate on ideas right alongside your work!

Our newest version of Whiteboards Templates is not compatible with the legacy version. Legacy templates saved in your Workspace's Template Center will have a legacy badge.

Access and use Whiteboard templates

You can access templates from a Whiteboard, the Views Bar, or the Spaces Sidebar.

A Whiteboard

The easiest place to search for and open a Whiteboard is Whiteboards Hub

To access templates from a Whiteboard:

  1. In an open Whiteboard, in the upper-right corner, click the ellipsis... icon.
  2. Select Templates

Views Bar 

To access templates from the Views Bar:

  1. In the Views Bar, right-click the Whiteboard. 
  2. Select Templates.

Access Whiteboard templates from the Spaces Sidebar in ClickUp 4.0

To access templates from the Spaces Sidebar in ClickUp 4.0:

  1. In the Spaces Sidebar, click the ellipsis ... next to the Whiteboard.

  2. Click Templates

Access Whiteboard templates from the Sidebar in ClickUp 3.0

To access templates from the Spaces Sidebar in ClickUp 3.0:

  1. In the Sidebar, click the ellipsis ... next to the Whiteboard.  
  2. Select Templates

Use Whiteboard templates

  1. After clicking Templates, select one of these options:

Save a Whiteboard as a template

To save a Whiteboard as a template:  

  1. After selecting Save as Template.
  2. In the Save as new Template modal, type a template name.

  3. Click Save Template.

Apply a Whiteboard template

Once a template has been created, you can apply it to any new or existing Whiteboard. 

To apply a template to a new Whiteboard:

  1. Access the Template Center. 
  2. Hover over the template and select Quick Use.

  3. The new Whiteboard opens with the template applied.

To apply a template to an existing Whiteboard:

When you apply a template to an existing Whiteboard, the items on the Whiteboard are replaced with the items in the template.

  1. Open the Whiteboard you want to apply a template to.
  2. From the Whiteboard's Template Center menu, select Browse Templates.
  3. Hover over the template and select Quick Use.
  4. The Whiteboard template applies to the Whiteboard and replaces all items previously added.

Update a Whiteboard template

Once a template has been created, you can update it. 

  1. Access the Template Center and search for the template. 
  2. From the Update existing Template modal, select the template, then click Next.

  3. Click Save Template.

Delete a Whiteboard template

Make sure your team doesn't need the template anymore. Once you delete a template, it can't be recovered.

  1. Access the Template Center and search for the template. 
  2. Select the template.
  3. In the upper-left corner of the Template modal, click the ellipsis ... icon.
  4. Select Delete
  5. You'll be prompted to click Delete again or Cancel.
