Create tasks from task or Inbox comments with ClickUp AI
You can create a task from a sent task or Inbox comment.
To create a task from a task or Inbox comment:
- Hover over anyone's sent comment.
- In the upper-right corner of the comment, click the ClickUp AI icon or the ellipsis ... icon.
- Select Create Task with AI.
- AI automatically creates the task in the most logical location, generates a context-rich title and description, and links to the comment thread.

The Chat ClickApp must be enabled.
Create tasks and Docs from Voice Clips with ClickUp AI
ClickUp AI can assist you by creating a task or Doc from the transcript. You can also ask AI questions about the content of the Voice Clip!
Create tasks from Doc comments with ClickUp AI
You can create a task from a sent Doc comment.
To create a task from a Doc comment:
- Hover over anyone's sent Doc comment.
- In the upper-right corner of the comment click the ClickUp AI icon or the ellipsis ... icon.
- Select Create Task with AI.
- AI automatically creates the task in the most logical location, generates a context-rich title and description, and links to the comment thread.
Optional task settings and actions
After the task is created, you can do the following:

Below the task preview, click Copy to post the new task to the task comment thread it was created from. This is a quick way to acknowledge an action item from a teammate without interrupting your workflow. |

Create a task or Doc from the toolbar using ClickUp AI
Create a task or Doc from the toolbar using AI-generated content.
You can create an AI-generated task or Doc from the toolbar in two ways:
- From the toolbar's AI modal.
- From the toolbar's Create items modal.
The generated content becomes the task description, or the body of the Doc.
To create a task or a Doc from the toolbar's AI modal:
- In the toolbar, click the AI icon. Or press
Option + K
on Mac,Alt + K
on Windows. - Enter a prompt and press
Return
orEnter
. After AI answers, you can edit the content using the following options:- Copy: Copy the text to paste it manually into another location. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.
- Retry: Click to get a different response from the same prompt.
- If you're satisfied with the content, click + Create and select Task or Doc.
- The task or Doc modal opens.
- Enter a name and any other required info.

To create an AI-generated task or a Doc from the toolbar's Create items modal:
- From the toolbar, click the + New button.
- From the Create items modal, select the Task or Doc tab.
- Select Write with AI.
- Type a prompt into the Talking points text box.
- You can choose options from the Tone of voice and Creativity dropdowns.
- Click Generate.
- After the text is generated, you can edit it using the following options:
- Insert below: Click Insert to paste the content into the task or Doc.

Try again: Click to get a different response from the same prompt.
- Your Doc is private by default, click the Private toggle to make the Doc public.
