Write with AI
Writer offers over 100 role-based prompts. Learn more about creating role-specific content.
You can also create your own prompts. To get the best response when creating writing prompts, use clear, concise language and specify a format List, or blog post for example.
To write with AI:
From any location where you can access AI, you can type a prompt into the AI modal's search bar.
- There are several ways to access Writer:
- At the upper-right corner of any view, click Ask AI.
- In the lower-right corner of your screen, click the AI icon.
- Open a location and type the /Slash Command
/write
and pressReturn
orEnter
. - In some locations, like empty task comments, a Write with AI button displays. You can stop these buttons from displaying by clicking the AI icon below the text comment field.
- If the AI modal displays in the location, select Write with AI. For example, a new Doc displays the modal, in an existing Doc you can use the /Slash Command.
- Type your topic into the AI modal. For example, in your team's Weekly Sales meeting task you could Ask AI: Create a template for our weekly sales meeting notes. AI writes a template and you insert it into the task description.
- After the content is generated, you have the following choices:
- Insert: Click Insert to paste the content into the location.
- Edit: Click to edit your prompt.
- Regenerate: Click to generate a different response from the same prompt.
- Copy: Copy the content and manually paste it into another location. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.

Tell AI what to do next: Reprompt AI by typing a related prompt or giving AI more direction. For example, you could type Format this as a list. Or Make this shorter.
In some locations, you can also create a task or a Doc with the generated content.
Create a table with AI
You can instantly create a table with AI!
To create a table:
- Open a location and type the /Slash Command
/write
and pressReturn
orEnter
.- If the AI modal displays in the location, select Write with AI. For example, a new Doc displays the modal, in an existing Doc you can use the /Slash Command.
- Type your topic into the Write with AI modal. For example:
Create a table comparing the top 10 US dog breeds. Include columns for size and energy level. - After the content is generated, you have the following choices:
- Insert: Click Insert to paste the content into the location.
- Edit: Click to edit your prompt.
- Copy: Copy the content and manually paste it into another location. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.
- Regenerate: Click to generate a different response from the same prompt.
