Manual AI and automatic AI
Your use of ClickUp AI is either manual or automatic.
Manual AI usage: These uses require human interaction. For example, using AI Writing or searching via BrainGPT.
- Manual AI usage is unlimited with our Brain AI (formerly AI Standard) and Everything AI add-ons, so these uses are not counted or displayed.
- Some usage of automatic AI features is also included in the Brain AI add-on.
Automatic AI usage: These uses are configured by someone in your Workspace, and then run automatically or autonomously. For example, ClickUp Super Agents.
- These types of features consume AI Super Credits.
- AI Super Credits are tracked on the AI Usage page in your Workspace settings.
ClickUp AI trial
ClickUp AI is activated in all Workspaces on a trial basis.
Deactivate the ClickUp AI trial
To deactivate your Workspace's ClickUp AI trial, deactivate the AI ClickApp.

Purchase AI add-ons and AI Super Credits
After your AI trial ends, you'll need to be on a paid plan and purchase an AI add-on. Usage limits may change in the future. New features may vary by plan.
You can add AI to your workspace in the following ways:
- Purchase the Brain AI add-on (formerly AI Standard).
- Purchase the Everything AI add-on (formerly the AI Autopilot Bundle add-on).
- Purchase AI Super Credits to use toward Automatic AI uses.

How is automatic AI usage tracked?
Automatic trial and paid add-on actions are calculated per user.
For example:
- My Unlimited Plan Workspace has 2 people.
- Unlimited Workspaces get 1,000 AI Super Credits per user.
- Since we're a Workspace of two, we have 2,000 AI Super Credits.
- If Member A uses 600 AI Super Credits, Member B can use 1,400 AI Super Credits.

How are AI Super Credits applied to automatic AI usage?
Automatic AI usage is counted after the feature is configured. For example, building a Super Agent is not considered a use. When the Super Agent performs the actions specified in its prompt, that is a use. For example, posting a message in the HR Channel when someone asks an HR-related question.
The AI Super Credits consumed are estimates and subject to change. Actual usage may vary.

ClickUp's Super Fair Billing Policy
When we optimize, you save
We know paying for AI Super Credits is new and sometimes confusing. That's why we're introducing Super Fair Billing. It's our way to keep things transparent and reasonable. Plus, it's designed to save you money.
If there are sudden increases in AI costs from AI model providers (like OpenAI or Anthropic), we subsidize the difference so your credit usage remains steady. That's not all:
- When we save on AI costs, those savings are passed directly to you.
- If you exceed your AI Super Credits for any reason, we provide a grace period to keep your teams on track.
- We use cost-plus pricing, so you’re billed fairly based on the AI Super Credits you use.
We may adjust pricing gradually if AI costs rise, but we'll always communicate changes transparently, and with plenty of notice.

All user roles can use Brain Assistant in the locations and items they have access to.

There are privacy, security, and permissions that only apply to Super Agents. Learn more
