Connect tasks to Chat messages

Add context and create action items directly from Chat conversations. You can create new tasks from messages or link existing tasks to messages.

Whether you're ideating a new feature or adding helpful context to a marketing conversation, connecting tasks saves you time and keeps you focused. You can even update the status, Priority, and assignees of connected tasks without leaving Chat!

Create a task from a message

To create a new task from a message:

  1. In any Chat or direct message, hover over the message.
  2. In the message toolbar, click the Create or Assign button.

  3. Choose to manually create a task or do so using AI.
  4. Once your task is created, it's automatically connected to the message.

Connect a task to a message

To connect an existing task to a message:

  1. In any Chat or direct message, hover over the message.
  2. Click the ellipsis ... icon.
  3. Select Add relationship.
  4. At the top of the Thread sidebar, click the search bar.
  5. Search for and select the task.

Access connected tasks

Once a task is connected to a message, it will display above the message.

When there's one connected task, you'll see the name of the task. Click it to open the task.

When there's multiple tasks connected to a message, you'll see the number of connected tasks above the message. Click the number to view all connected tasks in the Thread sidebar.
