Customize and categorize tasks in Calendar view

Calendar view offers a wide variety of customization options so you can create the ideal calendar for your team's needs.
To start customizing, navigate to your Calendar view and click Customize in the upper-right corner of your screen.

What you'll need

  • All ClickUp plans include unlimited uses of Calendar view.
    • The future recurring tasks feature is only available on paid plans. 
  • Everyone, including guests with edit or full permissions, can create Calendar views.

Tasks visibility

You can customize your tasks in several ways:
  • Color tasks by the following:
    • Parent List: Color tasks based on the color of the List they are located in.
    • Status: Color tasks based on the color of their current status.
    • Dropdown Custom Field: Color tasks based on the color of their current Dropdown Custom Field selection.
  • Show subtasks: Show subtasks as separate events on the calendar.
    • Subtasks must have a start or due date in order to be visible.
  • Show future recurring tasks: Show recurring tasks that are scheduled to occur in the future.
    • The future recurring tasks feature is only available on paid plans. 
  • Show tasks from all Lists: Show tasks from every List in your Workspace.
    • At the Everything level, every List in your Workspace is visible by default.
    • This setting only applies to you. 

Time format

Choose your preferred time format for task start date and due date times:
  • AM/PM: Will show time in a standard AM/PM format. For example, 3:00 pm.
  • 24 HOUR: Will show time in 24-hour format. For example, 15:00 instead of 3:00 pm.

Task start dates, due dates, or Date Custom Fields must be visible to view specific time information.

Task dates

Show or hide the following task date information:
  • Start and due dates
  • Date Custom Fields

Tasks without a start date, due date, or active Date Custom Field will not appear in Calendar view.

Calendar view settings

Customize your Calendar view further with the following options:
  • Show weekends: Show weekends on your calendar.
  • Show hour grid lines: Show hour grid lines for each day.

    This will not affect tasks if you are viewing by month.

  • Fade out tasks in the past: Tasks before today appear slightly less visible.
  • Show week numbers: Show each week's number out of 52.

    Week numbers do not appear when viewing by day.

  • Always stay on this date: When revisiting your view, see the last date you looked at instead of automatically seeing today's date.
  • Show future recurring tasks: Show recurring tasks that are scheduled to occur in the future.

Show or hide the following information on each of your Calendar view task cards:
