Intro to the integration with Slack

Ensure that context from Slack conversations informs tasks and nothing gets lost in the process.

Create tasks from Slack channels or direct messages, set up channel-specific notifications to ensure all stakeholders see updates, and connect all of your tools using the integration with Slack.

What you'll need

  • The integration with Slack is available on every ClickUp plan.
  • A ClickUp Workspace can only be connected to one Slack workspace at a time.
    • A Slack workspace can be connected to multiple ClickUp Workspaces at the same time.
  • Members, admins, and owners can enable the integration using a private connection.
  • Only Workspace owners and admins can enable the integration using a shared connection.
  • Guests cannot use the integration with Slack.

Using a shared connection

From the App Center:

  1. Browse for and select Slack.
  2. Select Shared.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. Click Allow to grant ClickUp access.

Once this is completed, you can sync ClickUp activity to Slack channels.

Enable Slack notifications

Once the integration is enabled, you can enable Slack notifications for specific Spaces, Folders, and Lists in your Workspace. You can only select public channels you're in or private channels with ClickUp access for notifications.

You can give ClickUp access to a private channel using the /invite @ClickUp command.

Choose which Slack channels to notify and customize your notifications.

You can create a separate #clickup channel in Slack for these notifications.

Rich unfurl tasks, comments, and Docs in Slack

Once you've connected the integration, you'll see unfurled links when you post task, task comment, or Doc links in Slack. You'll see task details like statuses, assignees, Priorities, and more.

Links to private ClickUp tasks or Docs will be seen by everyone in a channel.

Use Slack actions to create tasks or comments

Using the integration with Slack, you can create a ClickUp task from Slack or add a Slack message as a comment to an existing task.

Disconnect the integration with Slack

If you no longer wish to use the integration, you can disconnect it.

To disconnect the integration with Slack, from the App Center:

  1. Browse for and select Slack.
  2. Select the connection.
  3. Click the ellipsis ... and Disconnect.

You can add the integration with Slack again at any time.

Troubleshooting

If you're unable to see all of your available Slack channels when enabling the integration, be aware that:

  • The channel must not be deleted.
  • You must have joined the channel.
  • Any new channels you create or join may take 5 minutes to sync and appear in ClickUp. You don't need to log out and log back in for new channels to be displayed in ClickUp.
