Slack Automations

Create Slack Automations to send messages in Slack or trigger Actions in ClickUp.

What you'll need

Create a Slack Automation

To create a Slack Automation, from a List, Folder, or Space:

  1. Click the Automate button or the lightning bolt icon.
  2. Click Create Automation.
  3. Select a Slack Trigger or Action, or choose a Slack Automation template by clicking Slack in the left sidebar.
  4. Configure your Trigger, Conditions, and Actions.
  5. Click Create.

Slack Triggers

Each Slack Automation Trigger has different customization options.

Message posted

The following options are available for the Message posted Trigger: 

Option Description Required?
Account Select a Slack account to use. Yes
Channel Select the Slack channel. Yes
Include bot messages? Click this checkbox if you want bot messages to trigger the Automation. No

Reaction added

The following options are available for the Reaction added Trigger:

Channel Select the Slack channel. Yes

Slack Actions

Each Slack Automation Action has different customization options.

Slack Automations cannot be setup in Chat Channels.

Send channel message

The following options are available for the Send channel message Action:

Account Select a Slack account to use. Yes
Channel Select the Slack channel. Yes
Message The content of your message. You can use dynamic ClickUp fields in your message. Yes

Send direct message

By default, direct messages sent via Automation are displayed as sent from a bot. You can change this by checking the Send as User? option.

The following options are available for the Send direct message Action:

Send as User? Display the direct message as sent by you rather than a bot. No
