Create a Dashboard

Create a visual representation of your work for your entire team. Dashboards provide a high-level look at your Workspace.

Create a Dashboard view to ensure your team can easily find the data they need. Use drill-down view into Dashboard cards to see granular details.

Dashboard types

It's important to understand the following info before creating a Dashboard. 

Dashboards are visible in the location where they're created. All Dashboards are also visible in Dashboards Hub

There are three types of Dashboards:

Dashboard type Description
Dashboard views Dashboard views can be added to Spaces, Folders, Sprint Folders, Lists, and Sprint Lists.
Dashboards in the Hierarchy Dashboards that are created from a Space, Folder, or List.
Dashboards that only exist in Dashboards Hub When you create a Dashboard in Dashboards Hub or from the toolbar, it is only visible in the Hub by default. You have the option of adding it to a location. 

Create a Dashboard

You can create a new Dashboard from multiple locations in ClickUp.

From the create button in ClickUp 4.0

In ClickUp 4.0, you can create Dashboards from the create button in your Home Sidebar, Spaces Sidebar, and Dashboards Hub Sidebar.

To create a Dashboard:

  1. In your Global Navigation, select Home, Spaces, or Dashboards.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the sidebar, click the plus icon.
  3. Select Dashboard.
  4. Choose a Dashboard template or start from scratch.

From a Space, Folder, or List in ClickUp 4.0

A Dashboard created from a Space, Folder, or List can be accessed from Dashboards Hub, the Home Sidebar, or Spaces Sidebar. 

  1. In your Global Navigation, click Home or Spaces.
  2. Hover over a Space, Folder, or List.
  3. Click the plus icon and select Dashboard.

From the Sidebar in ClickUp 3.0

To create a Dashboard in a location:

  1. In the Sidebar, hover over a Space, Folder, or List.
  2. Click the plus icon and select Dashboard.
  3. Choose a Dashboard template or start from scratch.

Create a Dashboard as a view

To create a Dashboard as a view:

  1. In the Views Bar, add a view.
  2. Then select Dashboard.
  3. Choose a Dashboard template or start from scratch.

Create a Dashboard from the location header in ClickUp 4.0

To create a Dashboard from the location header in ClickUp 4.0: 

  1. Right-click the current location name. 
  2. Hover over Create new and select Dashboard.

To create a Dashboard from the location header in ClickUp 3.0: 

  1. Click the ellipsis ... next to the location name.
  2. Hover over Create new and select Dashboard.

From the toolbar

To create a Dashboard from the toolbar:

  1. From the toolbar:
    • In ClickUp 4.0, click Create Dashboard.
      Or, click your avatar and select Create Dashboard from your Personal Tools.
    • In ClickUp 3.0, click New and select the Dashboard tab.
  2. Choose a Dashboard template or start from scratch.

From Dashboards Hub

To create a Dashboard from Dashboards Hub:

  1. In the upper-right corner, click New Dashboard.
  2. Choose a Dashboard template or start from scratch.

Dashboard templates

When you create a Dashboard, you can use a prebuilt template to get started.

You can click the Location (Data source) dropdown to change the location. This is where the Dashboard pulls data from.

For the Time Tracking template, you'll need to select a time range.

To create a Dashboard without using a template, click Start from scratch and add a card to start building.

The following table describes the available templates when you create a new Dashboard:

  • Available on all plans
AI Team Center
  • Improve collaboration and visibility across your team with AI cards.
  • Available on all plans
Time Tracking
  • See and report on time-tracking metrics.
  • Available on Business Plans and above.
Project Management
  • Deep dive into detailed projects from a central place.
  • Available on Business Plans and above.
AI Personal Center
  • Improve your performance and career with ClickUp's AI cards.
  • Available on all plans.
Sprint Reporting
  • Track Agile projects and get insights into your Sprints.
  • Only available on the Business Plan and above, and when the List you choose is a Sprint
  • This Dashboard view will be automatically created when a new Sprint is created. 
Start from scratch
  • Choose any available cards to add to your Dashboard.

Move a Dashboard

You can move a Dashboard to a new location in your Workspace.

Refresh a Dashboard

You can refresh individual cards or refresh your entire Dashboard.

In the upper-right corner of the Dashboard, you'll see when the Dashboard was last refreshed.

To refresh a Dashboard, in the upper-right corner, click the Refresh icon.

Deactivate automatic refresh

By default, Dashboards are set to refresh automatically.

To turn this setting off, in the upper-right corner, click the toggle to deactivate Auto refresh.

Add a card to an existing Dashboard

Customizable cards are the building blocks of Dashboards. The customization and flexibility of cards allow Dashboards to be used for various reporting purposes across industries. 

To add a card to an existing Dashboard:

  1. In the upper-right corner of the Dashboard, click + Add card.
  2. Using the categories in the sidebar, select a pre-made card or create a custom card.

Move and resize cards

You can arrange cards to organize your Dashboard for maximum impact and resize them to show more detail. You can manually drag and drop cards, or use auto layout to keep your cards organized automatically.

Edit a card

To edit a card, the Dashboard containing the card must be in edit mode.

The settings available vary by card.

To enable edit mode and edit a card:

  1. In the upper-left corner of a Dashboard, make sure Edit mode is enabled.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the card, click the cog icon to open the Edit card modal.
  3. Edit the card settings and click Save.
