Create tasks from Microsoft Teams channels and direct messages, set up channel-specific ClickUp activity messages to ensure all stakeholders see updates, search Microsoft Teams files, and connect all of your tools using the integration with Microsoft Teams.

What you'll need
- The Microsoft Teams integration is available on every ClickUp plan.
- Only Workspace owners and admins can manage integrations.
- Guests can't use the Microsoft Teams integration.
- Microsoft Teams members without ClickUp access can see, but not post task previews.
- Microsoft Teams members with ClickUp access can see and post task previews.
Connection types
The features and commands available depend on which type of connection you use.

Enable the integration with Microsoft Teams
You can set up either Microsoft Teams connection type from the App Center. Once connected, you'll need to manually enable Connected Search for each available connection type.
To set up the integration from the App Center:
- Browse for and select Microsoft Teams.
- Select the Personal or Workspace tab.
- Click Connect.
- Click Allow to grant ClickUp access.

After enabling the Microsoft Teams integration, you can manually enable Personal or Workspace Connected Search.
Enable ClickUp activity sync for personal connections
When using a personal connection, you can sync ClickUp activity with Microsoft Teams for specific Spaces, Folders, and Lists in your Workspace. ClickUp activities are sent as messages to Microsoft Teams.
You can create a separate ClickUp channel in Microsoft Teams for these messages.
From the Personal tab of Microsoft Teams in the App Center:
- Next to Sync ClickUp Activity to Channels, click Add.
- Select a Space, Folder, or List.
- Select a Microsoft Teams channel to send activity messages.
You can select from public channels you're in. Private channels are not available for activity sync.

Customize the activity messages:
- Assigned to me: Only send activity messages for tasks assigned to you.
- Include Private: Include private tasks, Lists, and Folders.
- Types of activity messages: Select what types of task activity messages you want to receive.

Install the ClickUp app in your chosen Microsoft Teams channel to start receiving notifications.
If you're not receiving activity messages, ensure the ClickUp app isn't blocked.
Tasks in multiple Lists only create Microsoft Teams activity messages if their home List is included in the selected location.
ClickUp Chatbot in Microsoft Teams
After installation, you'll see the integration bot in your 1:1 chat. The first time you interact with it, the bot will explain how the integration works, show you some examples, and offer helpful links to our Help Center articles.
Preview tasks, comments, and Docs in Microsoft Teams
When using a personal connection, you'll see previews when you post task, task comment, or Doc links in Microsoft Teams. You'll see task details like statuses, assignees, Priorities, and more.
Task links
Task links display the following details:
- Task title
- Task status
- Due date
- Assignees
- Priority

The task's location
- If this task is in multiple Lists, only the List the task was created in or moved to will display.
Comment links
Comment links display the following details:
- Who left the comment.
- Preview of the comment.
- The location the comment was posted.
Doc links
Doc links display the following details:
- The Doc title.
- Preview of the Doc.
- The owner of the Doc.
- The Doc's location.
Microsoft Teams link previews
When you paste a Microsoft Teams link into a ClickUp task, Chat, or Doc, you'll see the option to paste it as a preview, mention, or URL.
Microsoft Teams panel in tasks
When using a personal connection, you can access the Microsoft Teams panel in tasks.
After you paste your first Microsoft Teams link in a task description or comment, you'll see a new Microsoft Teams icon in the right sidebar of your task. You can click this icon at any time to see every Microsoft Teams link posted in the task.
Previews are grouped by type. You can switch between grid and table layouts using the icons in the upper-right corner.
Use the messaging extension
Find and attach tasks from any Microsoft Teams conversation:
- Click the ClickUp add-in icon in a channel.
- Search for a task.
- Click the task to preview its details in the channel.
Create tasks from Microsoft Teams
You can create tasks from channels or messages in Microsoft Teams.
From a channel
To create a new task from a Microsoft Teams channel:
- Click the ClickUp add-in icon in a channel.
- Click the ellipsis ... menu.
- Select Create Task.
- Add task details.
- Click Create task.
From a message
To create a new task from a Microsoft Teams message:
- Hover over the message and click the ellipsis ... menu.
- If it is your first time creating a ClickUp task from Microsoft Teams, select More actions.
- Select Create Task.
- Add task details.
- Click Create task.
Attach Microsoft Teams messages to tasks
To attach a Microsoft Teams message to a ClickUp task:
- From Microsoft Teams, hover over the message and click the ellipsis ... menu.
- If it is your first time creating a ClickUp task from Microsoft Teams, select More actions.
- Click Add comment to Task.
- Search for and select a task.
- Optionally, select an assignee.
- Click Add to submit the comment.
- The message will be added to a ClickUp comment and styled as a quote with a link back to the original Microsoft Teams comment.
Disconnect the integration with Microsoft Teams
If you no longer wish to use the integration, you can disconnect it.
To disconnect the integration, from the App Center:
- Browse for and select Microsoft Teams.
- Click the Personal or Workspace tab.
- Next to the connection, click the ellipsis ... menu.
- Select Disconnect.
You can add the integration with MS Teams again at any time.

Frequently asked questions about the Microsoft Teams integration.
Do I need to log in to ClickUp when I add the ClickUp add-in to a Microsoft Teams channel?
No. You must add the ClickUp application to your Microsoft Teams workspace.
From Microsoft Teams:
- Click Apps.
- Search for ClickUp.
- Click Add.
Why can't I see all of my Microsoft Teams channels after enabling the integration?
You must be a member of the channel to see it. Any new channels you create or join may take several minutes to sync and display in ClickUp. You don't need to log out and log back in for new channels to be displayed in ClickUp.
Where is the embedded view in the new Microsoft Teams integration?
The embedded view is not supported at this time.
Why am I unable to trigger notifications within the bot?
You must first connect the Microsoft Teams application in ClickUp.
From the App Center in ClickUp:
- Browse for and select Microsoft Teams.
- Select Personal.
- Click Connect.
- Click Allow to grant ClickUp access.
