Preview and search your Notion pages and databases from ClickUp!

What you'll need

Connection types

The features and commands available depend on which type of connection you use.

Connection type Description Features Commands
Personal connection Connect your Notion account with your ClickUp user account for each Workspace you've created or joined. The data in your Notion account will not be available to anyone else through ClickUp.

Personal Connected Search:

Search public and private pages and databases from your connected Notion account. No one else can search for pages or databases from your personal connections.

Notion link previews:

Link previews allow you to see live, synced visualizations of links directly in ClickUp.

Create New Notion Page: Create new Notion page from ClickUp.

 

Open Notion: Open Notion in a new tab.

Workspace connection

The Workspace owner or admins can enable Notion as a Workspace connection.

Use this connection to give everyone access to connected search.

Workspace Connected Search:

Enable all Workspace members to search for pages from the connected Notion account. Only pages that are selected when setting up the integration can be searched.

Search Notion pages and databases using Connected Search

After the integration is set up and Connected Search is enabled, you can search the following Notion files in ClickUp:

  • Pages

    You can search pages using keywords from its title or content!

  • Databases

Filter search results

When using Notion Connected Search in the Command Center, you can narrow your results by clicking the Pages or Databases filter.

Sort search results

When using Notion Connected Search in the Command Center, you can sort results by clicking Sort and selecting one of the following options:

  • Last Updated
  • Last Created
  • Trending In Workspace
  • Trending For You

Add access to additional pages

If you want to make more pages available to search with Connected Search, you can do so from your Notion settings:

  1. Select Connections.
  2. To the right of ClickUp, click the ellipsis ... menu.
  3. Click Access select pages.
  4. Select new pages to access and click Update access.

Notion link previews

When you paste a Notion page or database link into a ClickUp task, Chat, or Doc, you'll see the option to paste it as a preview, mention, or URL.

Page previews

Page previews include the following information:

  • Page name
  • Teamspace name
  • Date of last update

Notion app panel in tasks

After you paste your first Notion link in a task description or comment, you'll see a new Notion icon in the right sidebar of your task. You can click this icon at any time to see every Notion link posted in the task.

Previews are grouped by type. You can switch between grid and table layouts using the icons in the upper-right corner.

Use commands to create Notion pages

Use Command Center commands to create new Notion pages directly from ClickUp.

Create a page

To create a new Notion page from ClickUp:

  1. Open the Command Center:
    • At the top of your Workspace, click Search.
    • Press Cmd + K on Mac or Ctrl + K on Windows.
  2. Type Create New Notion Page.
  3. Add a title and emoji.
    • Optional: Choose a parent page from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click Create.

Disconnect the Notion integration

If you no longer wish to use the integration, you can disconnect it. Only admins and owners can disconnect Workspace connections.

To disconnect the integration with Notion, from the App Center:

  1. Search for and select Notion.
  2. Depending on your connection type, select the Personal or Workspace tab.
  3. Next to Connected, click the ellipsis ... menu.
  4. Select Disconnect.
  5. To confirm, click Disconnect.

You can add the Notion integration back to your Workspace at any time.
