What you'll need
- The integration with Slack is available on every ClickUp plan.

A ClickUp Workspace can only be connected to one Slack workspace at a time.
- A Slack workspace can be connected to multiple ClickUp Workspaces at the same time.
- Only Workspace owners and admins can enable the integration using a Workspace connection.
- Guests and limited members cannot use the integration with Slack.

Enable ClickUp activity sync with Slack
Once your personal connection is set up, you can sync ClickUp Spaces, Folders, and Lists with public or private Slack channels.
If you're using a Workspace connection, you can sync Spaces, Folder, and Lists with public channels only.
Choose which Slack channels to notify and customize your messages.
Only the Workspace connection creator can set up new locations for ClickUp activity messages. Admins and owners cannot add new locations, but they can map existing messages to additional ClickUp Spaces, Folders, or Lists.

Search Slack messages using Connected Search
When setting up a Slack Workspace connection, you can manually select specific public channels for Connected Search or choose the All public channels option.
Only Workspace Connected Search is available at this time. Personal Connected Search for Slack is currently unavailable.
After setup, all Workspace members can search for messages from the selected public channels dating back up to one year. For example, if you connect Slack with ClickUp on June 1, 2024, ClickUp will be able to retrieve messages sent in Slack from June 1, 2023 and onwards.
This indexing process can take up to 24 hours. You can check progress from the AI Command Bar until it is completed.
Preview tasks, comments, and Docs in Slack
Once you've established a personal connection, you'll see previews when you post task, task comment, or Doc links in Slack. You'll see task details like statuses, assignees, Priorities, and more.
Links to private ClickUp tasks or Docs will be seen by everyone in a channel.
If you're not seeing ClickUp items unfurl in Slack, check your Slack settings to ensure link previews are enabled for ClickUp.

Slack link previews
When you paste a Slack channel or message into a ClickUp task, Chat, or Doc, you'll see the option to paste it as a preview, mention, or URL.

After you paste your first Slack link in a task description or comment, you'll see a new Slack icon in the right sidebar of your task. You can click this icon at any time to see every Slack link posted in the task.

Disconnect the integration with Slack
If you no longer wish to use the integration, you can disconnect it.
To disconnect the integration with Slack, from the App Center:
- Browse for and select Slack.
- Select the connection.
- Click the ellipsis ... and select Disconnect.
You can add the integration with Slack again at any time.

Troubleshooting
If you're unable to see all of your available Slack channels when enabling the integration, be aware that:
- The channel must not be deleted.
- You must have joined the channel.
- Any new channels you create or join may take 5 minutes to sync and appear in ClickUp. You don't need to log out and log back in for new channels to be displayed in ClickUp.

How quickly can I search new Slack messages using Connected Search?
New messages may take up to ten minutes to be searchable by Connected Search.
Who can search Slack content using Connected Search?
Individuals who are both a Slack and a ClickUp Workspace member can use Connected Search, but they can only search for public messages and channels.
What happens to my Slack data if I enable Connected Search, then disable it or disconnect the Slack integration?
If you disconnect your Slack account from ClickUp, your Slack content will immediately become unsearchable and your Slack data will be deleted in less than one day.
