Use Button Custom Fields to manually trigger Automations on individual tasks.
What you'll need
- 60 Custom Field uses are available on the Free Forever Plan.
- Unlimited uses are available on paid plans.
- Workspace owners on the Business Plus and Enterprise Plans can use custom role permissions to manage Custom Fields.
- Individual Custom Fields can be hidden from all guests.
- Guests with edit or full permissions can edit existing Custom Fields but cannot create new ones.
- You can pin Custom Fields on the Business Plan and up.
Create a Button Custom Field
When creating a Button Custom Field, you'll see the following customization options:
- Button text: Customize the button name.
- Icon: Customize the button icon.
- Color: Customize the button color.

Automations: Choose the Actions that occur when the button is pressed.
- Baseline and Custom permissions: Edit the Button Custom Field's permissions.
These options can be edited after the field is created.
Button Custom Fields cannot be created at the Workspace level, added to multiple locations, or moved after creation.
Use a Button Custom Field
Clicking a Button Custom Field in any task or view will trigger the associated Automation Action for that task.
You can see when a button was last clicked by hovering over it.
