Use Voting Custom Fields

Create Voting Custom Fields to prioritize work, run retrospectives, or analyze sentiment. From all-hands discussion topics to feature requests, easily monitor interest from your views.

What you'll need

  • 60 Custom Field uses are available on the Free Forever Plan.
  • Unlimited uses are available on paid plans.
  • Workspace owners on the Business Plus and Enterprise Plans can use custom role permissions to manage Custom Fields.
  • Individual Custom Fields can be hidden from all guests.
  • Guests with edit or full permissions can edit existing Custom Fields but cannot create new ones.
  • You can pin Custom Fields on the Business Plan and up. 
  • Owners and admins can make Custom Fields required on the Business Plan and above.

Create a Voting Custom Field

You can create Voting Custom Fields from several locations.

When creating a Voting Custom Field, you'll see the following customization options:

  • Description: Add a description.
  • Emoji type: Choose a voting emoji.
  • Hide users who have voted: Allow others to see who has voted.

    Everyone can see the field's total vote count.

You can require Voting Custom Fields from several locations.

Pin a Voting Custom Field

You can pin Voting Custom Fields from several locations.

Hide a Voting Custom Field from guests

You can hide Voting fields from guests from several locations.

Calculate Voting Custom Fields

You can calculate the sum, average, or range of votes on tasks in List view:

  1. Hover over the Formula column to reveal the Calculate button at the bottom of it.
  2. Click Calculate.
  3. Select SumAverage, or Range.
  4. Click Calculate.

Sort and filter tasks by Voting Custom Fields

Similar to other Custom Fields, you can sort and filter tasks by Voting Custom Fields.

Group tasks by Voting Custom Fields

You can group tasks by those with votes and those without votes in List view, Table view, Board view, Timeline view, and Workload view.

To group tasks by a Voting Custom Field:

  1. In the upper-left corner of the view, click Group.
  2. Select the Voting Custom Field.
  3. To reverse the grouping order, click the dropdown on the right and choose ascending or descending.

When grouping by Voting Custom Fields, you can't drag and drop tasks between groups.

Use Voting Custom Fields in Forms

You can use Voting Custom Fields in your Forms.

If someone accesses the Form while logged in to ClickUp, their vote is counted the same way it would be using List view. Their name will display as a voter if the Hide users who have voted setting is disabled.

If someone accesses the Form while not logged in, their vote is created by ClickBot. If the Hide users who have voted setting is disabled, Voter will display instead of their name.

You can use Voting Custom Fields in the Custom Field changes Trigger or Custom Field Condition!
