Using ClickUp 4.0? You can customize the layout of Channels and direct messages in your Home Sidebar.

Change your layout

There are two Chat layout options:

• Recents: Channels and direct messages with recent activity are listed from newest to oldest.
• Organized: Channels and direct messages are organized into customizable section. This is the default.

You can switch your layout using the toggle in the lower-left corner of Chat's sidebar.

Show parent locations

To display parent locations of location-based Channels in Chat:

1. In the lower-right corner of Chat's sidebar, click the settings icon.
2. To the right of Sidebar Labels, click the dropdown.
3. Select Show.

Limit number of direct messages

To limit the number of direct messages that are displayed:

1. In the lower-right corner of Chat's sidebar, click the settings icon.
2. To the right of Limit DMs in your sidebar, click the dropdown.
3. Select a limit:
   • No limit. This is the default.
   • 10
   • 20
   • 40
   • 60
   • 80
   • 100
