Create a custom section
You can create a custom section from an existing section or from any Channel or direct message.
From an existing section in the Chat sidebar:
- Hover over any section.
- Click the ellipsis ... icon and select Create section.
- Name the section.
- Optional: Select an icon for the section by clicking the emoji icon.
- Click Create.
From any Channel or direct message:
- Right-click the Channel or direct message.
- Hover over Move to section.
- Click Create section.
- Name the section.
- Optional: Select an icon for the section by clicking the emoji icon.
- Click Create.

Add Channels and direct messages to a section
Once you've created a custom section, you can add Channels and direct messages to it from the section, the Channel, or the direct message.
From the new section in the Chat sidebar:
- Under the section name, click Add Channel or Add people.
- Search for and select a Channel or person.
From the Channel or direct message:
- Right-click the Channel or direct message.
- Hover over Move to section.
- Select your new section.
When a Channel or direct message has unread messages, its name will be bolded.
Remove Channels and direct messages from a section
To remove a Channel or direct message from a section:
- Right-click the Channel or direct message.
- Hover over Move to section.
- Click Remove.
Delete a custom section
If you no longer need a custom section, you can delete it. The Channels and direct messages in the section will not be deleted.
To delete a custom section:
- Hover over the section.
- Click the ellipsis ... icon and select Delete section.
