Troubleshoot the desktop app

If you're experiencing unintended behavior when using the desktop app, resetting the app can help.

Make sure you're using the latest version of our Desktop app!

Reset the desktop app on Mac

To reset the desktop app on Mac:
  1. Open a new Finder window.
  2. Press Command + Shift + G.
  3. In the modal, paste in ~/Library/Application Support/, then click Go.

  4. Find the folder titled ClickUp and right-click it.
  5. Select Move to Trash.
  6. Open the ClickUp desktop app.

Reset the desktop app on Windows

To reset the desktop app on Windows:
  1. Uninstall the ClickUp desktop app.
  2. Once uninstalled, delete the following: 
    • The %AppData/Roaming/ClickUp folder.
    • Anything item with ClickUp in the name.
  3. Reinstall the desktop application from ClickUp.com/apps.

Hard refresh

Hard refresh to clear your browser's cache. This will load the most recent version of a page.

Check memory usage

If your ClickUp desktop app is crashing, it may be due to high memory usage.

Check memory usage on Mac

To check memory usage on Mac:

  1. Open the Activity Monitor app.
  2. Click the Memory tab.
  3. Check memory usage in the bottom panel.
  4. If your memory usage is near capacity, close other apps you aren't using.

Check memory usage on Windows

To check memory usage on Windows:

  1. Open the Task Manager.
  2. Check memory usage in the Memory column.
  3. If your memory usage is near capacity, close other apps you aren't using.
