Edit task statuses to perfect your workflow.
You can rename, update the color, or delete default, custom, and status templates.
When deleting a status from a Space, Folder, or List, you'll be prompted to update any tasks and Automations that currently use that status.
What you'll need
- Owners, members, and admins can create, edit, and delete statuses by default.

Business Plus and Enterprise Plans can use advanced permissions to control if members and guests can create, edit, and delete statuses.
- You'll need both the Delete Items and Edit Statuses advanced permissions to delete statuses.
Edit statuses from the Sidebar
To edit statuses from the Sidebar:
- To the right of the Space, Folder, or List, click the ellipsis... icon.

Select Space, Folder, or List settings.

Click List statuses or Task statuses.

To the right of a status, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- If the statuses are inherited from a higher Hierarchy location, you can navigate to that location to edit the statuses or Use custom statuses.

Select Rename, Change Color, or Delete Status.
Edit statuses from List view
You can edit statuses from a status group or a status column.
From a status group
To edit statuses from List view:

Ensure you are grouping tasks by status.

To the right of the status name, click the ellipsis ... icon.

Select Edit statuses.

To the right of a status, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- If the statuses are inherited from a higher Hierarchy location, you can navigate to that location to edit the statuses or Use custom statuses.

Select Rename, Change Color, or Delete Status.
From a status column
If you've added the status column to your List view, you can edit statuses from it:
- Click the status column's header.

Select Edit statuses.

To the right of a status, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- If the statuses are inherited from a higher Hierarchy location, you can navigate to that location to edit the statuses or Use custom statuses.

Select Rename, Change Color, or Delete Status.
Edit statuses from Board view
To edit statuses from Board view:
- Under the Views Bar, click Group and select Status.
- In the upper-right of a status column, click the ellipsis ... icon.

Select Edit statuses.

To the right of a status, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- If the statuses are inherited from a higher Hierarchy location, you can navigate to that location to edit the statuses or Use custom statuses.
