Create tasks and subtasks from the text toolbar

You can create tasks and subtasks using the text toolbar from various locations in ClickUp.

When using the text toolbar to create a task or subtask, the task name is automatically filled in with the selected text.

Create a task from a Doc or page

To create a task from a Doc or page:

  1. Select some text.
  2. Click the Create task button.
  3. Fill out the task details.
  4. Click Create.

Create a task from a task description

By default, tasks are created in the current List.

To create a task, from a task description:

  1. Select some text.
  2. Click the Create task button, or click the arrow and select Create task.
  3. Fill out the task details.
  4. Click Create.

Create a subtask from a task description

Subtasks are always created under the current task.

To create a subtask, from a task description::

  1. Select some text.
  2. Click the arrow next to the create task button, and select New subtask.
  3. Fill out the subtask details.
  4. Click Create.
