Watchers are people who are notified when changes are made to a task. Assignees are automatically set as watchers on tasks they're assigned to.
Unlike assignees, watchers aren't necessarily responsible for completing task items. Watchers are people who need to follow a task's progress.

People can be added as watchers on every plan.

Everyone except guests without Edit or Full permissions can add or remove watchers.

Add a watcher to a task
Task view 3.0 has introduced several new features and UI updates! Click the following tabs to see the instructions for each version.

To add a watcher to a task in Task view 2.0:
- From the upper-right corner of an open task, click the eye icon. You can also add watchers using Quick Create tasks and Bulk Action Toolbar.
- Click an avatar to select yourself, another person, or a Team.
- The task watcher's avatar is highlighted.
- The task watcher will be sent task updates in their notifications.

To add a watcher to a task in Task view 3.0:
- From the upper-right corner of an open task, click the bell icon. You can also add watchers using Quick Create tasks and Bulk Action Toolbar.
- Click an avatar to select yourself, another person, or a Team.
- The task watcher's avatar is highlighted.
- The task watcher will be sent task updates in their notifications.
The following are some common actions that also set you as a task watcher:
- When you're mentioned in a task.
- When a task is assigned to you.
- When you edit a task name or description.
- When you comment on a task.
- When a task comment is assigned to you.
- When you create a new task.
- When you are added as a watcher by Automations.
- When you change a task's due date.
- When you change a task's status.
- When you change a task's priority.

Watchers can be identified by their highlighted avatars. You'll also see the last time a watcher viewed the task directly under their name.
To remove a task watcher in Task view 2.0:
