If you want to clean up your Sidebar, instead of deleting a Space, you can archive it to keep it accessible later! Best of all, archived Spaces remain fully searchable.
What you'll need
- You can archive Spaces on all ClickUp plans.
- Guests with edit or full permissions can archive Spaces.
- Only Workspace owners or admins can unarchive Spaces.
Archive a Space
Archived Spaces aren't visible in the Sidebar. All items in the Space are preserved and searchable.
Changes made to archived tasks will still trigger notifications for all watchers. To stop receiving notifications, you can delete the task or remove yourself as a watcher.
- From the Sidebar, click the ellipsis ... next to the Space.
- Select Archive.
- From the Archive Space modal, click Archive. Your Space will be removed from the Sidebar and can be restored anytime.
Archived Spaces count towards the Free Forever Plan's limits.
Restore an archived Space to the Sidebar
You can temporarily restore the Space to your Sidebar, which is helpful if you need to look at an item in the Space in the future.
- At the top of the Sidebar, hover to the left of the double arrow icon to display the cog icon.
- Click the cog icon.
- From the Sidebar Settings menu, click Show archived.
- The archived Space and all of its items display in the Sidebar. You can tell it's archived because the Space name is italicized and shows with the archived icon.
Unarchive or delete a Space
If you find that you need the Space again, permanently restore it to your Sidebar. You can also delete it.
You can unarchive and delete a single Space or multiple Spaces.
Unarchive or delete a single Space:
- At the top of the Sidebar, hover to the left of the double arrow icon to display the cog icon.
- Click the cog icon.
- From the Sidebar Settings menu, click Show archived.
- From the Sidebar, click the ellipsis ... next to the archived Space.
- Select Unarchive or Delete.
- Unarchive: Your Space will display in the Sidebar without the archived icon, and the name will no longer be italic.
- Delete: In the Remove Space modal, you must type the Space name to enable the Delete button.
Unarchive or delete multiple Spaces:
- Click your Workspace avatar and select Spaces.
- Select the Archived Spaces tab.
- Click Restore or Delete permanently to the right of the Spaces.
