Direct message an individual in ClickUp 4.0 

There are several ways to direct message an individual in ClickUp 4.0.

From your Home Sidebar

To direct message someone from your Home Sidebar:

1. In your Global Navigation, click Home.

2. In the upper-right corner of your Home Sidebar, click the plus icon and select Message.

   • Alternatively, hover over the Direct Messages section header and click the plus icon. Or, click New message at the bottom of the section.

3. Search for the person you want to message and select them.
   • Optional: Click the People tab to filter results to only people, or click someone in the Direct Messages section. 
4. Send your message.

From the Chat Sidebar

Send a message from the Chat Sidebar.

From a Profile

To direct message someone from their Profile:

1. From anywhere in ClickUp, click their avatar to open their Profile.
2. From their Profile, click Chat.
   
3. Send your message.

Direct message an individual in ClickUp 3.0

In ClickUp 3.0, you can direct message an individual from Chat's sidebar:

1. In the Sidebar, click Chat.
2. In the upper-right corner of Chat's sidebar, click the create button and select Message.
   • Alternatively, hover over the Direct Messages section header and click the plus icon.
3. Search for the person you want to message and select them.
   • Optional: Click the People tab to filter results to only people, or click someone in the Direct Messages section. 
4. Send your message.

Direct message a group in ClickUp 4.0

There are several ways to direct message a group in ClickUp 4.0.

From your Home Sidebar

To direct message a group from your Home Sidebar:

1. In your Global Navigation, click Home.

   • Alternatively, hover over the Direct Messages section header and click the plus icon. Or, click New message at the bottom of the section.

3. Search for and select each person you want to add to the group.

Direct message a group in ClickUp 3.0

In ClickUp 3.0, you can direct message a group from Chat's sidebar:

1. In the Sidebar, click Chat.
2. Under the Direct Messages section in Chat's sidebar, click Invite people.
3. Search for and select each person you want to add to the group.
4. Send your message.
