Task view modes in task view 4.0

There are three view modes for tasks in task view 4.0:

• Full screen: The task takes up the majority of your screen. Your Global Navigation and toolbar are available around the task.
  
• Modal: The location where you opened the task is visible behind the task. Clicking outside the task modal will close the task.
  
• Sidebar mode: Tasks are collapsed to a narrow view on the right-hand of your screen.
  Sidebar mode is the default mode when opening tasks from the Planner.
  

Change your preferred view mode

When you select a view mode, the current task will switch to that mode. The next task you open will use your preferred view mode.

To quickly switch to sidebar mode:

• In the upper-right corner, click the Switch layout button.

To change your preferred view mode:

1. In the upper-right corner, hover over the Switch layout button.
2. Select your preferred view mode.

Task layout options in task view 3.0 

There are three task layouts available for tasks:

• Default
• Full screen
• Sidebar

Default task layout

In the default layout, tasks fill the majority of the page. The sidebar is displayed to the left of the task.

You can drag the divider to expand either the task description or the Activity section.

Full screen

In the fullscreen layout, the task fills the page. The sidebar is hidden behind the task.

You can drag the divider to expand either the task description or the Activity section.

Sidebar

In the sidebar layout, a narrow view of your tasks displays on the right side of the screen.

The sidebar will stay open while you navigate to other locations in your Workspace, like Docs, Home, Calendar, or views.

In Sidebar layout, you can see one section of the task at a time using the tabs on the right.

Options include:

• Details: Shows task fields and the description, subtasks, Custom Fields, and Action items.
• Activity: Shows task activity, comments, and emails.
• Relationships: Shows related and linked items.
• Integrations: See and interact with other apps.

When you open another existing task while in the sidebar layout, the current task closes and the other task opens in the sidebar layout.

Switch between task layouts in ClickUp 3.0 

To switch between task layouts, use the Switch layout button.

1. Open a task.
2. In the upper-right corner, click the Switch Layout button.
3. Choose a task layout.
