Use Brain AI to manage your team's Chat Channels. Use Brain AI in Chat to create and assign tasks, find related tasks and Channels, and summarize and ask AI questions about the Channel.

Access Brain AI from a Channel

To access Brain AI from a Channel:

  1. Open a Channel.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click Ask to do any of these actions:
    • Ask anything about this channel: Ask AI about conversations in the Channel.
    • Summarize channel: Summarize conversations that took place today, over the last 24 hours, or the last seven days.
    • Create a task: Use AI to create a task.
    • Write: Use AI to write.

Access Brain AI from a draft

To access Brain AI from a message draft:

  • From an empty draft, press Space.
  • In a draft message, type @brain.
  • In a draft message, type the /Slash Command /ai and select an AI feature. You can also click the plus icon in the lower-left corner of the field to open all /Slash Commands
  • In a draft message, highlight some text and click Ask. Select an option to ask AI to help you edit or write. 

Access Brain AI from a message

To access AI from any sent message, hover over the message and select an option from the message toolbar:

Create or Assign: Click the Create or Assign icon and select Create task with AI to create a task from a message or Post using AI.

Brain: Click the Brain icon and select one of the following tools:

  • Summarize thread/message: Click to create a summary of the thread or message. 
  • Create a task: Create a task from the thread or message using AI.
  • Find related tasks: Click to ask AI to find tasks related to the thread or message. 
  • Find related Docs: Click to ask AI to find Docs related to the thread or message.
  • Find related Chats: Click to ask AI to find related Chats to the thread or message.

After AI responds to any of these prompts, you can do the following:

  • Copy: Copy the text to paste it into another location manually. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.
  • Post to thread: Post the response to the message thread. 
  • Create a Doc: Create a Doc from the response.
  • Try again: Click to get a different response from the same prompt.
  • Continue in sidebar: Continue the conversation with Brain in a sidebar on the right side of your screen.
  • Tell AI what to do next: Give AI more direction or ask AI something new.
  • Feedback: Click the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to share your AI feedback!

Access Brain AI from the details sidebar

To access Brain AI from the details sidebar:

  1. Open a Channel or direct message.
  2. In the floating sidebar in the upper-right, click Settings or the Settings icon.
  3. Select AI.

Catch me up is only available if you have unread messages.

In the Catch me up modal, you have the following options:

Catch me up from: 

  • Last 24 hours
  • Last 2 days
  • Last 3 days
  • Last 7 days
  • Last 14 days

After AI responds, you can do the following:

  • Copy: Copy the text to manually paste it into another location. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.
  • Create task: Create a task from the response.
  • Create Doc: Create a Doc from the response.
  • Retry: Click to get a different response from the same prompt.
  • Tell AI what to do next: Give AI more direction or ask AI something new.
  • Feedback: Click the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to share your AI feedback!

Access Brain AI from Channels with unread messages

To access Brain AI from a Channel with unread messages:

  1. Open the Channel.
  2. Click Catch me up to generate a summary of everything you missed.

Send a message or reply using Brain AI

Prompt Brain to send a message or reply. For example: Can you send a message in the Marketing Channel "Are we launching at 4pm PT?"

Assign messages

To assign a Chat message using Brain AI:

From anywhere you can use Brain AI, type a prompt into the prompt field.

For example: Could you assign the message "Great work!" to @MyTeammate?
