Start a SyncUp to collaborate live with your colleagues face-to-face in seconds. Improve communication, save time, and align on your projects in ClickUp without switching apps. SyncUp one-on-one or with groups and share your screen, connect tasks, and more!

SyncUps availability

SyncUps are part of Chat.

We're currently experiencing high demand for Chat. You can join the waitlist from the Chat ClickApp in your Workspace.

What you'll need

  • SyncUps are currently available to Workspaces on all plans with access to ClickUp Chat. In the future, lower plans may have SyncUps usage limits due to the high infrastructure costs of video calling.

  • The Chat ClickApp must be enabled to use SyncUps.
  • All user roles can join and create SyncUps in Chats and direct messages they have access to.
  • 200 people can be in a SyncUp at the same time. 24 people can speak at once.

Start or join SyncUps

You can start or join a SyncUp from any Chat channel or direct message (DM). Once you're in the SyncUp, you can stay in Chat or navigate ClickUp!

When you leave Chat, the SyncUp will be minimized to the toolbar.

Start a SyncUp

You can start a SyncUp from a channel or DM or the details sidebar.

From a Chat channel or DM:

  1. Open a channel or DM.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click the SyncUp icon.

  3. The SyncUp will immediately begin. When you start a SyncUp, a message will be posted in the Chat or DM.

  4. Toggle your mic, camera, and more using the mini player in the lower-left corner of Chat.

From any Chat or DM details sidebar:

  1. In the upper-right corner, click the sidebar icon to open the details sidebar.
  2. At the top, click SyncUp.

  3. The SyncUp will immediately begin. When you start a SyncUp, a message will be posted in the Chat or DM.
  4. Toggle your mic, camera, and more using the mini player in the lower-left corner of Chat.

Join a SyncUp

To join a SyncUp from Chat:

  1. Open the SyncUp's channel or DM.
  2. Click Join on the message that was sent when the SyncUp began.

Share a SyncUp link

To share a SyncUp link:

  1. In the upper-right corner of the channel or DM, click the expand icon to the right of the SyncUp icon.
  2. Select Share SyncUp Link to copy it to your clipboard.

Share your screen in expanded mode

Expand SyncUps to share your screen, connect tasks, and more.

Starting a screen share is not available on the ClickUp desktop app at this time.

Open expanded mode

You can open expanded mode after a SyncUp has started.

Expanded mode is only accessible from Chat.

Click the expand icon in the mini player in the lower-left corner of Chat.

Toggle your mic and camera

Click the microphone and camera icons at the bottom to toggle them on or off.

Share your screen

To share your screen:

  1. At the bottom of expanded mode, click the screen icon.
  2. Select one of the options:
    • Tab
      • You can share audio with your screen when using a tab.
    • Window
    • Entire Screen
  3. Click Share.

You can't currently share your screen in SyncUps on the desktop app, but you can view others' shared screens.

Toggle call thread

To open the Thread sidebar and message others in the SyncUp, click the thread icon at the bottom.

Connect tasks

To connect tasks to your SyncUp:

  1. At the bottom of expanded mode, click the connect tasks icon.
  2. In the Connected Tasks sidebar, you can search for a task, select an AI-recommended task, or create a new task.
  3. Once added, connected tasks display above the Chat or DM SyncUp message and in the Connected Tasks sidebar for the rest of the SyncUp.

Use the ellipsis ... menu

You can use ClickUp AI, copy the SyncUp link, and update your camera and microphone settings from the ellipsis... menu.

Leave a SyncUp

SyncUps automatically expire after two hours. You can start a new SyncUp immediately after one ends.

If you're in Chat, you can leave the SyncUp by clicking Leave in the mini player in the lower-left corner or the phone icon in the upper-right corner.

If you're outside Chat, you can leave a SyncUp by clicking the phone icon in the toolbar.

Mute your microphone

If you're in Chat, you can toggle your mic on or off during a SyncUp by clicking the microphone icon in the mini player in the lower-left corner.

If you're outside Chat, you can toggle your mic on or off during a SyncUp by clicking the microphone icon in the toolbar.

Switch input and output devices

To switch your SyncUp input or output during a SyncUp:

  1. In the mini player or expanded mode, click the ellipsis ... menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select a new input or output.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about SyncUps.

Why can't people hear me?

If your team can't hear you, your mic may not be enabled.

Desktop app

When you join a SyncUp on the desktop app, ClickUp will request microphone access. If you don't see this request:

  1. Open your system settings.
  2. Enable microphone access for ClickUp.
  3. Restart ClickUp.

Browser

If you're using ClickUp in a browser:

  1. In your browser or computer menu bar, click the microphone or camera icon.
  2. Select Allow.
  3. Refresh the page.

Can I disable SyncUps?

SyncUps cannot currently be enabled or disabled by Workspace admins or owners.

Can I share SyncUp links externally?

No, SyncUps links cannot be shared externally at this time. However you can copy a SyncUp link to add to calendar invites or share with your team who have access to the chat the SyncUp is in.
