Sync all project and issue updates between ClickUp and Jira, so you don't have to leave ClickUp to see and manage your work. The sync automatically generates Lists and tasks for all your projects and issues in an organized ClickUp Space, so you can update them and see the changes reflected in Jira automatically.
If you need real-time visibility to search for and preview Jira projects, boards, dashboards, and issues in ClickUp, use the Jira Connected Search integration!
Sync integrations are in beta.
What you'll need
- The Jira Sync integration is available on the Business Plus and Enterprise Plans.
- Workspace owners and admins can set up the Jira Sync integration.

Start the sync
You can set up Jira Sync from the App Center.
Jira Sync error messages are posted as comments from the admin who set up the integration. We recommend creating a new admin account in your Workspace to set up the sync.
To start the sync:
-
Using a ClickUp account with the same email as the Jira account with necessary permissions, open the App Center.
- Search for and select Jira Sync.
- Select Manage.
- Input your host name, host name with protocol, email, and API token.
- To retrieve your API token, navigate to https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens and select Create API token. Name the token, click Create, and select Copy.
- Click Sign in to Jira.
- After authentication finishes, click Start Sync to sync all of your Jira projects. Do not close ClickUp while the sync is in progress.
Depending on the number of projects and issues you have, the sync could take several hours. You can continue working in ClickUp and check the progress of the sync any time from the App Center.
If a task fails the sync, open the task to see why. Errors are displayed as task comments.
Use Jira Sync
After the set up is complete, you'll see a new Space called Jira. In the Space, you'll see a List for each Jira project. In each List, you'll see a task for each Jira issue. If there is an equivalent ClickUp assignee, they will automatically be assigned to their tasks.
Every task includes four Custom Fields with important information:
- Jira Issue ID
- Jira Issue Key
- Jira Issue Type
- Jira Issue URL
We recommend adding these Custom Fields as columns to your List view!
Create and sync issues
When you create a new task in the Jira Space, an identical Jira issue will be created and vice versa.
If you don't select a Jira Issue Type Custom Field when creating a task, the issue type will default to Task.
When you move a task to a new List in the Jira Space, it will move to the issue to the equivalent project in Jira and vice versa.
When you change a task status in ClickUp, it will update the equivalent issue in Jira and vice versa.
You can add a task to a new location using Tasks In Multiple Lists and the sync will continue unless the original Jira project List is deleted.
Watch our video guide on creating Jira issues using the sync integration.
Pause the sync
You can pause the sync at any time.
From the App Center:
- Search for and select Jira Sync.
- Select Manage.
- Click Stop Sync. You can resume any time by clicking Start Sync.
Remove a Jira project
If you want to remove a Jira project from ClickUp, delete the List created for it. The project and issues will not be affected in Jira, but it will no longer sync.
