Open Brain Assistant

You can open Brain Assistant from a task or a location header.

To open Brain Assistant:

  • Open a task and in the upper-right corner, click Ask
  • Or from a Space, Folder, or List's location header in the upper-right corner, click Ask
  • Brain has access only to the location where it's opened by default. To change this:
  • In the lower-right corner of the prompt field, click the location picker to select a new source, Connected App, or location. 
  • Brain Assistant opens, and you have the following options:

Ask about your task 

Brain Assistant will suggest several questions about your task that it can answer. You can also type a question into the prompt field at the bottom of the modal. 

Summarize

To ask AI to outline the activity happening in this task's description and comments:

  • In Brain Assistant, click Summarize.

Progress update

To ask AI to catch you up on this task's activity:

  1. In Brain Assistant, click Progress update.
  2. In the Progress update modal, click the dropdown. 
  3. From the dropdown, select a time period.

Find similar tasks

To find tasks that are a duplicate of or similar to this task:

  • In Brain Assistant, click Find similar tasks.

Find tasks that are stuck

This feature identifies all tasks in a location that haven't had updates or discussions for a specified time period. 

This option only displays when you're in a List, Folder, or Space.

To find tasks that are stuck:

  1. In the upper-right corner of a Space, Folder, or List's location header, click Ask.
  2. Select Find tasks that are stuck
  3. By default, Brain Assistant will find tasks in this location that have not been updated in the last 15 days. 
  4. To change the location or time period, in the upper-right corner, click Edit. Select from these options:
    • Location: Click the Location dropdown to choose a different location.
    • Show advanced options:
      • Summarize tasks in this location: Click to select tasks in Not Started, In Progress, or Completed status.
      • Reporting for location: Click to select tasks of a certain type, priority, or other task properties.
      • Insight from location: Choose what type of report you want, for example, Status Report or Executive Summary.
      • Tasks that are stuck more than 15 days: Click the dropdown to select a different number of days. 
      • Display this many tasks for each block: Click the dropdown to select a different number of tasks to display.
  5. Click Generate.

After AI responds

After AI responds, you have the following choices:

  • Copy: Copy the content and paste it manually into another location. You can also manually copy any part of the generated text.
  • Create task: Create a task from the generated content. 
  • Create Doc: Create a Doc from the generated content. 
  • Retry: Generate slightly different content. 
  • Like or dislike: Help us improve ClickUp AI by providing feedback
  • Tell AI what to do next: Give AI more direction or ask AI something new.
