If you made a mistake in your time entry, you can edit or delete it.
What you'll need
- A Workspace owner or admin will need to enable the Time Tracking ClickApp.
- Individual guests can use Time Tracking if a Workspace owner or admin has given them permission.
- Time Tracking is available on every ClickUp plan.
- Workspace owners and admins can edit other users' time tracking entries.
- On the Free Forever and Unlimited Plan, the following advanced time tracking features have 100 uses. Each instance time is tracked or entered manually counts as a use. There are no limits for these advanced time tracking features on the Business Plan and above:
- Adding a time entry description.
- Adding labels to a time entry.
- Marking a time entry as billable.
- Tracking time that is not associated with a specific task.
Edit a time entry
You can edit a time entry from several locations.
From a running timer
To edit the start time of a running timer:
- In the toolbar, click the running timer.
- Click the start time.
- Enter a new start time.
- The timer will automatically update.
From a task
To edit a time entry from a task:
- In the upper-left of a task, click the Track Time field.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- Select the time entry you want to edit.
- Edit the time entry and click Save.
You can also edit a time entry from a task's Relationships section after adding the time tracked column.
From List or Table view
To edit a time entry from List or Table view, you must first add the time tracked field.
From a List or Table view:
- Click the time tracked field.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- Select the time entry you want to edit.
- Edit the time entry and click Save.
From Board view
To edit a time entry from Board view, you must first add the time tracked field.
From a Board view:
- Click the time tracked on a task card.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- Select the time entry you want to edit.
- Edit the time entry and click Save.
From Gantt view
To edit a time entry from Gantt view, you must first add the time tracked field.
From a Gantt view:
- Click the time tracked next to a task.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- Select the time entry you want to edit.
- Edit the time entry and click Save.
From the toolbar
To edit a time entry from the toolbar, you must first pin time tracking.
From the toolbar:
- Click the time tracking icon to open the Track Time modal.
- Select the time entry you want to edit.
- Edit the time entry and click Save.
From the Quick Action menu
To edit a time entry from the Quick Action menu:
- In the upper-right corner, click the Quick Action menu.
- Click Track Time to open the Track Time modal.
- Select the time entry you want to edit.
- Edit the time entry and click Save.
Delete a time entry
You can delete a time entry from several locations.
Items in the Trash can be recovered for 30 days before being permanently deleted.
From a task
To delete a time entry from a task:
- In the upper-left of a task, click the Track Time field.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- To the right of the time entry, click the delete icon.
You can also delete a time entry from a task's Relationships section after adding the time tracked column.
From List or Table view
To edit a time entry from List or Table view, you must first add the time tracked field.
From a List or Table view:
- Click the time tracked field.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- To the right of the time entry, click the delete icon.
From Board view
To delete a time entry from Board view, you must first add the time tracked field.
From a Board view:
- Click the time tracked on a task card.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- To the right of the time entry, click the delete icon.
From Gantt view
To delete a time entry from Gantt view, you must first add the time tracked field.
From a Gantt view:
- Click the time tracked next to a task.
- Under Time Entries, click the expand icon to the left of your name.
- To the right of the time entry, click the delete icon.
From Timesheets
To delete a time entry from Timesheets:
- To the left of the task, click the expand icon.
- Under the Total column to the right of the time entry, click the ellipsis ... icon.
- Click Delete Entry.
From the toolbar
To delete a time entry from the toolbar, you must first pin time tracking.
From the toolbar:
- Click the time tracking icon to open the Track Time modal.
- To the right of the time entry, click the delete icon.
From the Quick Action menu
To delete a time entry from the Quick Action menu:
- Click Track Time to open the Track Time modal.
- To the right of the time entry, click the delete icon.
