Automatically apply a template to all new tasks created in a List.
Default task templates are automatically applied to tasks you're drafting in two scenarios:
- When you select a List with a default task template set when quick-creating a task.
-
When you create a task in List view by clicking Add Task under any group.
Automations that use the Task created Trigger and the Apply a template Action will not trigger on tasks created in Lists that use a default task template.
What you'll need
- Default task templates for Lists can be set on every ClickUp plan.
- Guests cannot set default task templates for Lists.
- If a default task template is private, only users with access to it will have it applied to newly-created tasks.
- Tasks created from Forms override default task templates for Lists.
This article covers versions 3.0 and 4.0. Learn what's new in ClickUp 4.0!
