You can create new tasks using the text toolbar from task, Inbox, and Doc comments. This is a helpful way to quickly organize your work so you can return to it later.

• Unlimited comments are available on all plans.
• Guests can use comments.

Create a task from a task comment

You can create a task from your unsent comment or anyone's sent comment. 

To create a task or subtask from a task comment:

1. From the comment section of an open task:
   • From your unsent comment: Before sending the comment, highlight some of the text you've typed. Then in the text toolbar, click the dropdown to the right of + Task. And from the dropdown, select Task or New subtask. 
   • From anyone's sent comment: Hover over the sent comment. Then, in the upper-right corner of the comment, click the ClickUp AI icon or the ellipsis ... icon. And select Create Task.
2. By default, the task or subtask is created in your current location.
3. To select a new location, click the current location name. 
   • If this location has a required Custom Field, you'll need to populate it. 
   • You can also rename the task, and add other details like Assignee. 
4. Click Create.
5. The new task is embedded in the comment section and added to the selected location.

Create a task from an Inbox comment

You can create a task from anyone's sent comment. 

To create a task from an Inbox comment:

1. Hover over the sent comment.
2. In the upper-right corner of the comment, click the ClickUp AI icon or the ellipsis ... icon.
3. Select Create Task.
4. By default, the task or subtask is created in your current location.
5. To select a new location, click the current location name. 
   • If this location has a required Custom Field, you'll need to populate it. 
   • You can also rename the task, and add other details like Assignee. 
6. Click Create.
7. The new task is embedded in the comment section and added to the selected location.

Create a task from a Doc

You can create a task from anyone's sent comment. 

To create a task from a Doc comment:

1. Hover over anyone's sent comment.
2. In the upper-right corner of the comment, click the ClickUp AI icon or the ellipsis ... icon.
3. Select Create Task.
4. By default, the task is created in your current location.
5. To select a new location, click the current location name. 
   • If this location has a required Custom Field, you'll need to populate it. 
   • You can also rename the task, and add other details like Assignee. 
6. Click Create.
   • If you'd like to post the task in the comment thread, in the Post Task to Thread modal click Post Task.
