Preview and mention website links

When linking to websites outside of ClickUp, you can show a preview, mention, or a plain text link.

Preview, copy, and edit website links

When you hover over a website URL in ClickUp, you'll see a preview, including the title, description, and image.

You can edit, copy, or delete the link using the icons in the upper-right corner of the preview window.

Members and guests with view-only or comment permissions can only copy the link to their clipboard.

Previews

Some websites will automatically generate previews when you paste them into a comment, Chat Channel, direct message, Doc, or task description. You can create previews for other websites manually.

Automatic previews

These website links will automatically create a large embed:

  • Apple Music
  • Clip
  • Datadog
  • Instagram
  • Loom

  • Miro
  • Reddit
  • Spotify
  • Typeform
  • Vimeo

  • YouTube

  • Zight

These apps will automatically create a small embed:

  • Canva

  • CloudApp

  • Figma

  • Google Drive

  • Google Sheets

  • Google Docs

  • Google Slides

  • GIPHY
  • X, previously Twitter

To display the plain hyperlink instead, you can do any of the following:

  • Use the keyboard shortcuts Cmd + Shift + V on a Mac or Ctrl + Shift + V on Windows.
  • After pasting the link, select Dismiss from the Link Unfurl modal.
  • Disable automatic embeds using the plain text links setting in My Settings.

Disable automatic previews

To disable automatic previews:

  1. In the upper-right corner, click your personal avatar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Preferences section.
  4. Enable Plain text links.

You can manually convert plain text links to previews or mentions.
