Annotate image, video, and PDFs with Proofing

Assign comments directly on task attachments with Proofing. 

Proofing is perfect for:

  • Providing clear markers on design mockups
  • Highlighting markups needed on legal contracts
  • Adding feedback for video content
  • Streamlining the creative review process for marketing teams

What you'll need

  • 100 uses of Proofing are available on the Free Forever and Unlimited Plans.
  • Unlimited uses of Proofing are available on our Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise Plans.
  • Guests can use Proofing.
  • Proofing is not available for cloud storage attachments.
  • Proofing is only available for images, videos, and PDFs. 

Add comments to images

You can add comments to images that use the following file formats: PNG, GIF, JPEG, and WEBP.

To add a comment to an image:

  1. From a task's Activity section, open the attached image.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the preview, click Add comment.
  3. Click the image to add a comment.
  4. Assign the comment or leave it assigned to Anyone.

Add comments to PDFs

To add a comment to a PDF:

  1. From a task's Activity section, open the attached PDF.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the preview, click Add comment.
  3. Click the image to add a comment.
  4. Assign the comment or leave it assigned to Anyone.

Add comments to videos

You can also add comments to videos using video Proofing. Supported video formats include MP4, WEBM, and Ogg for Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera.

To add comments to videos:

  1. From a task's Activity section, open the attached video.
  2. In the upper-right corner of the preview, click Add comment.
  3. Click the image to add a comment.
  4. Assign the comment or leave it assigned to Anyone.

Your comment will display the timestamp of the video and appear in the playback bar so you can easily find it later.

View Proofing comments

You can easily view all the comments added to attachments.

  1. From a task's Action Items tab, scroll down to the Assigned comments section.
  2. Click the attachment preview to see the comment on the attachment. 
  3. From the comment modal, you can reply to or resolve the comment. In the upper-right corner, you can also click Show resolved comments to see all resolved comments.

You can also view Proofing comments that are assigned to you in Home.
